I LOVE mine!!!
- Pros: AVCHD is awesome. Dropped it once, not a sign of it on the rugged case. FUN in the pool and shallow waters. Many settings and options. Great photos in good light.
- Cons: Not great in LOW light unless you work at it with settings or adding light source. Streaking light lines in low light (as with other cameras I've seen). Wish battery life was better, but easy to change out. Limited optical zoom because of water-proof design. (Sister camera, non-waterproof, gets 12x). LCD gets scratched easy, as all do. Power button is slow to power up, but too fast to power down.
- Other Thoughts: I REALLY like this camera for all it does in one rugged package. Great underwater pics and videos of the kids this summer, and the ability to make AVCHD work videos for training and demonstrations. I don't plan on filming candle-light dinners, but I did take some low-light shots that came out good after trial and error. Some nice Macro shots too. I do wish it had a cover for front and rear to protect lens and LCD. I also wish it didn't shut off unless you held down the off button for a few seconds. Other than that, I did a lot of research before buying this. Do your own searches on the DMC-TS1 (DMC-FT1 in europe), and see all the great reviews, videos and images related to this model and I think you will find it's a 9 out of 10 for overall features, quality and functionality (rounds up to a 5).
