The LUMIX DMC-FH25 shoots high-quality 16.1 megapixel images and combines a 28mm wide-angle LEICA DC lens with a powerful 8x optical zoom to take amazing photos. Redesigned with an easy-to-hold grip and slim and stylish profile, it features a 2.7" Intelligent LCD, 720p High Definition (HD) video recording and advanced iA (Intelligent Auto) for ease of use.

At the core of the LUMIX FH25 is the Venus Engine VI image processor with Intelligent Resolution technology for shooting clear and crisp digital photos and videos. The camera features a fast response time with shutter release lag times as short as approximately 0.005 seconds and, by adding Sonic Speed AutoFocus (AF), users can easily capture spur-of-the-moment photos. Using Intelligent Resolution technology, the Intelligent Zoom extends the powerful 8x optical zoom to 10x equivalent without compromising picture quality.

  • newegg Venus Engine VI The high-speed, high-performance Venus Engine VI is incorporated in the DMC-FH25 to enable the recording of beautiful images with higher quality signal processing including the Intelligent Resolution technology. An advanced noise reduction system in the Venus Engine VI applies noise reduction (NR) to luminance noise and chromatic noise separately. As a result, beautiful images with minimal noise can be reproduced all the way up to ISO1600 sensitivity at full resolution for beautiful night shots or dimly lit indoor shots.
  • newegg Get more in the picture with a wide angle lens and intelligent zoom The DMC-FH25 features a 28 mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens with 8x optical zoom (35 mm camera equivalent: 28-224 mm). The 28 mm wide-angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures. The 8x optical zoom lens gives you highly natural expressions from people and animals that you can’t get close to, with a 16.1-megapixel resolution. With the Intelligent Resolution technology, three areas (outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas) are automatically detected. Apart from the uniform enhancement of sharpness, this technology precisely performs signal processing pixel by pixel in the most effective way. As a result, images are clear and crisp. The Intelligent Zoom extends zoom ratio by approximately 1.3x, while the 8x optical zoom can virtually extend to 10x equivalent.
  • newegg Intelligent Auto ensures perfect shots every time In iA (Intelligent Auto) mode, advanced detection functions work automatically and simultaneously to optimise your settings, making it easier than ever to take beautiful photos every time. iA mode includes MEGA OIS to detect hand-shake, Intelligent ISO Control to detect subject movement, and Face Detection Auto Focus/Auto Exposure (AF/AE) to detect faces in the frame. AF Tracking continually tracks a moving subject and keeps it in focus, Intelligent Scene Selector works to detect scene conditions and Intelligent Exposure detects the brightness level.
  • newegg Sonic Speed AF Sonic Speed AF has been enhanced with numerous re-engineered improvements including optimized algorithms, a higher-speed actuator and parallel software processing. As a result, auto focus performance is significantly faster and more accurate than with previous versions. Additionally, the FH25 features 42% faster focusing than its predecessor, which is especially useful when trying to focus on subjects in motion.
  • newegg Create high-definition movies and then upload to your favourite social networking site Record motion pictures in high definition (1,280 x 720 pixels at 24 fps in Motion JPEG format). The DMC-FH25 can also upload photos and movies onto Facebook and YouTube. All you have to do is checkmark the photos and movies you want to share and connect the camera to your computer. Uploading automatically starts just by following the on screen instructions. With operation this easy, you can instantly share your photos and movies with your family and friends all over the world.
  • newegg Brilliant pictures from any angle The large 2.7 inch LCD features high 230,000-dot resolution Intelligent LCD. It automatically adjusts the brightness according to shooting conditions. This LCD provides sharp, clear images in virtually all shooting situations, ranging from night-time to bright daylight scenes. The High-angle mode makes the display extremely easy to view from a low angle, for example, when taking photos by raising your hand upward to capture the subject over the crowd.

1 out of 5 eggsLCD screen cracks Internally coomn problem

Pros: none

Cons: After 3 month s of minimal use and never being dropped or misused the LCD screen cracked internall. Panosonic will not warranty the camera. $200.00 to have it repaired. After researching online it is a very common problem with Panosonic LCD screens.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Camera

Pros: great price, excellent picture quality (even motion pictures come out well), more durable than it looks (tested by a 2 year old), and great zoom

Cons: will only take 10 minutes of video at a time, can't zoom in video mode, and switching camera modes is more complicated than it needs to be

Other Thoughts: The camera feels a little flimsy, but after my toddler dropped it twice, I realized that it was more durable than I initially thought.

With most cameras you can switch modes with a selector knob. That's not the case with this camera. You have to hit the "Mode" button and select a mode from the screen.

I bought this camera when it was on sale fro $119, and it was worth every penny. Great value for a camera with great quality.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat little camera!

Pros: Great camera for the price! 16 megapixel lets you take poster shots. Fast autofocus, automatically adjusts the scene mode (facial, fireworks, macro, portrait, etc. You can shoot short videos (about 10 minutes at a time) & it has panorama assist and a wide screen mode, and I love the 8x optical zoom. It really brings the shots close (for a small point & shoot)

Cons: You can't adjust the zoom when shooting video. Knew that before I bought it.

Other Thoughts: I bought a class 10 SDHC card for the camera to minimize write times during rapid shooting.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Camera

Pros: The price.
The freebies (I don't know why I'll need two camera cases for one camera).
The huge resolution - I'll never take full advantage of the 16.6MP (effective 16.1) but it's fun saying I have them.
The lens size - 35mm equivalent.
8x optical zoom is amazing for long distance.
The price (again). You can't find it less than 169 anywhere else.

Cons: I don't know too much about cameras so my complaints may be unbased but some pictures come out rather fuzzy. I'm sure if I had it at a different setting it would be different but I guess that's a con though since I wouldn't know how to make the pictures come out better. Also it turns out that just because you can zoom 8x doesn't mean you can use the camera as a microscope. It looses focus fast if you bring it in too close to anything. This is all my own lack of knowledge at play and after further study of the manual (if I ever get around to it) issues should be resolved so it's not worth docking an egg.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these. Each came with one awesome camera, two Dolica camera cases - they fit this camera but it's kind of a tight squeeze... the cases are actually quite nice though I've dropped this camera with it inside the case and it came out unscathed and it also has tiny pocket to fit and extra memory card which I'm using with a 16GB card I picked up on newegg as well, and it also came with a 4GB memory card. The 70MB internal memory is nice and is perfectly fine if you take photos at a lower resolution but at 16MP it only lasts for like 25 pictures. The 4GB case lasts for about 600... and my 16GB card lasts for about 2500. I'm actually perfectly content with the 4GB card and have no need for the extra card I bought.
