2 out of 5 eggsUnreliable

Pros: For the first few months this camera does exactly what it claims to do. It takes underwater photos and withstands temperatures quite well.

Cons: The photo quality isn't terrible, but it is for comparably priced cameras. The underwater photos are often monochromatic despite having lots of light. I am pretty sure panasonic has a team to make sure their products break soon after the warranty is over, because a couple weeks after mine ended, the camera would no longer protect under water. Now that the camera is broken, Panasonic refuses to return emails or hangs up when I call.

Other Thoughts: Best bet is to stay away from anything Panasonic.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat camera for the price

Pros: I wasn't expecting much after reading the review above but using slrs and dslrs for the last 25years and it takes wonderful pictures. If you highend quality digital pictures then buy a high dsllr. This my friend above was a 150 waterproof digital and you knew that buying it as did i. It didn't say high dslr quality pictures.

Cons: It's not one of my slrs or dslrs. Kinda hard to navigate the settings and the manual isn't all that helpful, but eventually it can be figured out.

Other Thoughts: This is great fits in a pocket, is waterproof I use it in my poolall the time. And at $150 I didn't destroy a dslr at the beach or pool.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor picture quality

Pros: Inexpensive for a presumably durable camera. Panasonic's intelligent auto mode does a great job of picking the right settings to get the best picture. Wide field of view is always nice on apoint and shoot camera. There is a dedicated movie button, press it at any time and movie starts recording. Also, the movie is recorded using the same settings as what ever picture scene (mode) you were using at that time. Nice that you could take "portait" movies or "sunset" movies. The camera is also very compact.

Cons: I have only owned this thing for a couple days so my con list may expand over time.

There are two main problems. Even at ISO 100 there are ridiculous artifacts in the photos. If you magnify a picture all it looks terrible. ISO 100 on this camera looks like ISO 800 on my Panasonic DMC-FZ28 (great camera, not beach friendly).

Also all the pictures come out on the dark side. You can play with the exposure, but most of the frame is still dark. Forget about zooming in while taking a movie as the ISO sensitivity appears to be fixed. In a well lit room the video is dim but visible. Zoom in to 4x and the picture is nearly black and completely unusable.

This camera fails at taking photos. Even my 6 mp Kodak Z612 takes better photos.

Also too bad is the fact that this camera is not eligible for a return through Newegg. It is "limited replacement" only. Doh! I should have read the fine print.

Other Thoughts: The picture does take good "Miniature Effect" photos as they call it. Macro subject in focus but foreground and background blurry. When you take a video in this mode, upon playback the video is super sped up playing back 10 seconds of video in 2 seconds. I thought there might be a firmware issue until I read the manual and found that this is a feature to make the movie more comical. Odd effect.
