5 out of 5 eggsLong zoom

Pros: The zoom is amazing.

Cons: The picture quality does not compare to the picture quality of this $2,000 plus camera that I was checking out.

Other Thoughts: When taking picture always make sure you pick the correct white balance setting.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Almost-A-DSLR

Pros: Great zoom range from 25mm (35mm film equivalent) wide-angle to 600mm telephoto. Lens sharpness is great throughout range. Lots of creative features. Battery has really good life. Accepts 52mm filters!

Cons: Manual focus with the electrical slider switch on the side of the lens is a little tricky. I would have preferred a mechanical focus ring like on my older Lumix FZ20K. Also slider switch can be set to adjust zoom or focus. It would be better to have an option to for it to be a zoom control when taking video and a focus control when taking still photos.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this camera as an upgrade to my Lumix FZ20K (5MP, 12x zoom), which I have owned for 7+ years. Like the FZ20K the FZ200 maintains a fast F2.8 throughout its zoom range, only this new one is has a 24X zoom at 12MP. The FZ20K has been a great camera, so I am hoping the FZ200 proves to be as durable.

5 out of 5 eggsExtremely versatile. Great performance

Pros: Very fast lens compared to other P&S cameras. Lens can operate at f2.8 throughout entire zoom range, which is remarkable and extremely useful. Excellent optics. Great pictures. Very fast autofocus. Super zoom latitude. Very useful auto-focus / auto-exposure lock feature. Can do video at 120 and 240 fps as well as standard speed for super-slowmo when you want it. Can do continuous image capture from 2 to 60 pics per second. Flash shoe supports TTL metering (I tend to use a external flash as the built in flash is average). Supports external microphone.

Cons: Manual focus and zoom are only available by electronic controls. No hands-on physical manipulation of the lens barrel as with a m4/3 or dslr detachable lens camera. The zoom manipulator though is convenient and responsive. However, manual focus is cumbersome even with the built-in assist features. I think it is not feasible to use the manual focus in real time. Fortunately, autofocus is very fast even in low light and can always be invoked with a button push (a single-use autofocus) whenever desired in manual mode.
I wish the camera had wifi.
Cannot change battery / memory card with camera on tripod.

Other Thoughts: This camera is basically like a DMC-G5 body/firmware combined with a permanently attached continuous f2.8 25-600mm Leica zoom lens. Thus the camera's capabilities and adjustable features are very advanced. For 99.99% of use cases, this camera supplants the need for a detachable-lens DLSR or m4/3 model. For example, can use modes/features like aperture priority, shutter priority, full manual, save as RAW, auto bracketing, etc. In addition to supporting advanced exposure-to-exposure adjustments typically associated with DSLRs, there are ways to configure the camera for truly instantaneously point and shoot uses (google the terms hyperfocal distance fz200) that also provide great results.

5 out of 5 eggswow

Pros: Excellent picture quality and zoom, easy to operate, battery lasts forever. Not heavy.

Cons: lens cover is breaking (but can be fixed on your own)

Other Thoughts: After some research decided to replace my 7-yo canon G6 with the FZ200. Took it to 7-days trip to Alaska. Wow! Zoom and picture quality, as well as movies are superb. Battery lasted 6 days and sustained 1000+ pictures and hours of movie making. Lens cover broke twice, spring fell out of the moving part, but I fixed it easily using hand and a needle. After the trip went back to AZ, and I noticed that colors made in Arizona are slighly pale due to excessive sun. I was making some cloth pictures for my wife's shop and noticed that colors are good only in the morning. But it is extreme sun in AZ.

5 out of 5 eggsI think its a winner

Pros: Menu system feels more modern than FZ150. Viewfinder is easier to see. The video quality is still amazing.

Cons: Lack of reviews for the camera at this point.

Other Thoughts: I've also used the FZ150, mostly for video. The cameras seem basically identical, but the FZ200 just feels a little nicer. Its slightly bigger, and the trigger button layout feels easier to use. I really like the camera.
