Pros: Has lots of buttons. Sends pics via wifi to your computer if you like. Fast. Takes good photos. Completely silent (with proper setting enabled.) Simple enough for DSLR/MILC beginner, but shows promise to let me grow into taking "serious" photos. Built-in viewfinder is awesome for old people who remember what it was like before the stupid rear display trend came along.
Cons: Has too many buttons. Wifi setup obnoxious. Manual is a 150-page booklet for starters followed by a 600 page PDF. Really? A grand I spend and you can't print the ruddy thing out for me? Poor battery life. 350 shots on a 1Ah battery makes me sad.
Other Thoughts: I am *not* a photographer. I am a guy who takes pictures. I could not tell you what makes one great over another, so this is all layman perspective.
That said, this is the first camera I've had since a manual Minolta 35mm I had back in the 80s that I've been pleased with. I have *always* hated the "look at the back of the camera" viewfinder, and seeing this one built-in was enough to convince me.
While I despise the addition of photo filters and effects in-camera (like a sun-sparkle or sepia-tone effect), I assume there are those that will take advantage of them.
I wish there were a way to geo-tag photos. Perhaps not a life-draining GPS, but maybe a setting you could set in the EXIF directly in camera. By the time I get home, I've forgotten exactly where some shots were taken.
And I am happy with the shots I've taken. I look at them and know they are bad because I am bad, not because of the camera. I could ask for nothing else.
