The Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM is an ultra compact prime lens for Canon EF DSLRs, and can be used with APS-C system providing 64mm equivalent focal length in the 35mm format. Consisting of 6 elements in 4 groups including an aspherical element that reduces aberrations, this lens ensures premium picture quality from the center to the periphery of the frame, and the optimized coatings minimize ghosting and flare while providing exceptional color balance. A newly developed stepping motor built into this lens allows quiet and smooth continuous autofocus while capturing video (continuous video autofocus only when used with the Canon EOS Rebel T4i DSLR). A short minimum focusing distance of only 0.98 ft./0.30m makes it easy to take breathtaking macro shots. A circular seven-blade aperture produces beautiful soft-focus backgrounds. Best of all, with a diminutive pancake design, this lens will never draw unwelcome attention thus you can stay discreet in sensitive shooting situations.
