4 out of 5 eggsSo Far, Like What I See

Pros: --Lightweight, feels sturdy with legs extended.
--Like the spongy hand-grips mounted on two of the three legs.
--Think I like the ball head compared to my other tripod with a pan head because the ball can still smoothly pan 360 degrees.
--Has both a leveling bubble on top of one tripod leg, plus a built-in directional compass.
--Definitely like being able to completely collapse the legs to have a tripod as low as 11"
--Nice feel to the canvass carrying bag.

Cons: –The leveling bubble helps straighten and/or tilt the tripod base BUT with a ball head, you can’t always tell whether the mounted camera is level. There is NO head leveling bubble as described on the NE web link
–The box arrived with absolutely no tape on either the top or bottom flaps--the tripod could have fallen out in transit–it ships as is in the original box from the manufacturer.
–Since when is “quick release” part of turning a locking tension knob then pushing a release button to a mounting base that has to first be attached to the base of the camera.

Other Thoughts: --Notice: no hand crank to raise/lower center post–you loosen or tighten a tension ring, then manually move the assembly. No handle included to move the upper head, looks like you have to hold the camera body to make head adjustments, e.g. tilt or pan.
–Paid $40 on Friday, tripod just arrived and I’m writing this review only to notice the tripod is now $29.99–-not amused. Beginning to lose faith in NE, shopping more on the “river” site and permanently cancelling my NE account.

Primary camera: Fujifilm SL1000 with a Yongnuo Speedlite YN-560 III

3 out of 5 eggsgood, but not exactly what I wanted

Pros: Very sturdy, smooth operation, ball allows decent tilt functions, legs use the lever clamp

Cons: Level bubbles are too small to see easily, the way the ball is mounted makes it difficult to use as a video camera pan. I wish someone could come up with a tripod that has all the good features...I've got 4 tripods, and each one has problems. This one is better than most, but if you want to use it as a video camera tripod and have to pan, the vertical pitch is only allowed by the ball and this causes problems with camera angles if you try and pitch vertically.
