Get incredible closeup shots with this fantastic telephoto lens! This lens has a minimum 45cm or 17.7" focusing length for incredible detail. Designed with an IF (Internal Focusing) system, the length never changes, so the center of weight never changes, as you zoom through the distances, focusing on your images.

Focal length ranges from 18 to 200 mm for an astounding range. Take photographs that put you in the action at the home football game or on the riverbank as the grizzlies gather to feast on salmon! The lens incorporates large hybrid aspherical elements to correct distortion and uses LD (Low Dispersion) glass elements to effectively compensate for lateral chromatic aberration and on-axis aberration.

This lens is a must-have for the serious photographer. Why not add it to your Canon Camera collection today?

Pros: Images are crisp and clean in daylight and flash settings.

Cons: Slow response when auto focusing. Low light auto zoom is terrible.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this lens to replace my Quantaray 28-200 which it will never be able to do. The Quantaray is more responsive and takes much better low light zoom shots. I do like the 18-200 aspect but only in daylight and flash situations and even then it is limited.

5 out of 5 eggssatisfied costomer

Pros: I'm not a professional photographer, however as an average joe who just want to get great pictures with a dslr camera this lens is perfect for me. Its lite and versatile can carry it anywhere specially during family vacations don't have to bring alot of lenses. plus the rebate can't beat that this thing is practically a steal...

Cons: been using it for just few months not alot of cons to think about yet. So, far its great!!! b ^^ d

Other Thoughts: get some good filter and flash. It does make a difference between a good picture and a great one. (just learned from trial and error.)

Pros: zoom range, pretty fast autofocus

Cons: not sharp enough (sharpness I can compare just with my Canon EF Lens - 50 mm - F/1.8 prime lens)

Other Thoughts: very good lens for beginners

Pros: Pictures are nice and sharp.
Price :)
Zoom :)
Compact size.

Cons: Slow autofocus (I am used to the old Canon USM 28-105 lens).
Also, autofocus tends to hunt a little bit.
Has plastic mount.

Other Thoughts: Still happy with the price I paid. Tamron's rebate check arrived very fast ~2weeks.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Lens For The Price

Pros: This is a great bargain for a lens with a very useful zoom range. It was purchased for the Canon T2i body. I have no basis for comparison with other lenses since this is my first and only lens for my first digital SLR. It does have a decent size manual focus ring, unlike some other lenses I've seen.

Cons: None that I have seen so far.

Other Thoughts: I received my rebate check two weeks after I mailed in my paperwork. That must be some kind of record!
I ordered this with the Canon T2i body, but had to wait for it to ship from Memphis TN, whereas I received the T2i the day after I ordered it, since I live in CA. That gave me a weekend to read the camera manual.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Lens, loud slow focus

Pros: This lens takes beautiful pictures, it also has a wide range for the distance starting at .45m and with the 200mm max range you can get some nice close shots. Images look crisp so far and you can't beat the price on this lens. The cap fits easily even with the hood on and is easy to remove. I purchased this for an all around lens and so far I haven't been disappointed. Bridges the gap between a close up lens and a distance telephoto. Build quality is really good aside from the mount ring (see below). Tamron has a 6 year standard warranty on this lens which is really good for a lens most manufacturers don't have one that long. The fact that it comes with a hood is also very nice.

Cons: The focus is kinda noisey and sometimes has a hard time focusing on closer subjects or if there is several focal points. The mount ring is plastic with a small aluminum strip on the track. I'm not sure if it will hold up after many lens changes. There is no IS feature on this lens so I only recommend it for high light environments or with a flash or tripod mounted. In low light environments there is visible camera shake when hand held.

Other Thoughts: This is my first lens made by someone other than the camera manufacturer. It has performed very well so far (1 Week). The glass seems good and the focus seems right on, although can be a little slow to respond sometimes. I would recommend this lens.

5 out of 5 eggsCamera Lenses

Pros: You can't beat the price. This is one of those instances where you get more for less, not you get what you pay for! This Lense was 200.00 less than the name brand for my camera, and has all the same features and functions. It even came w/a hood, unlike the name brand..

Cons: NONE
