1 out of 5 eggsPOOR P{ERFORMER

Pros: although the 2.8 f stop was my draw to this product and the price it simple was not worth the money

Cons: Tamron Quality I have been using NIKKOR lens for my D300 at events through out my life as a even photographer
and have always has success with the quality of these lens
after only using this lens less then 60 days I found that I could not focus the lens any more when the lens was sent to Tamron they said it was due to impact what bothers me most is NO local camera repair will touch theses lens they all tell me they can not get parts rom the manufacture . IN short they sell a poorly made product and do not stand behind the lens

Other Thoughts: any one have a 50 caliber sniper riffle
I think it would make for a cool video
Tamron lens against a 50 caliber
I do want to film this and post it on YouTube

5 out of 5 eggsSuper sharp!

Pros: I use this with a d90 and It is extremely sharp even at f2.8!
you'll be amazed. Well worth the money. Focus is fast enough, but of course if you're into serious sports photography go get the nikon 70-200mm VR. but for a hobbyist like me, its enough.
I used it in a baseball game and it performed well.
This lens is also perfect for portraits.

Cons: -no focus limiter
-no VR

5 out of 5 eggsGreat value for a lens in the tele range

Pros: image quality, price, fast aperture across the zoom range

Cons: slow autofocus, no image stabilization

Other Thoughts: This lens is a bargain. If you're looking to upgrade from a kit lens in this range, you'll be blown away by the increase in quality. The wide aperture lets you get creative with the depth of field and out-of-focus things look beautiful. The lens is sharp wide open across pretty much the entire zoom range, with maybe some slight softening at 200mm wide open (still better than the Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 at 2.8).
The autofocus is probably not fast enough for you if you do serious sports photography.
I've had this for 7 months, and this has to be some of the best money I've spent on photo gear.
Someday I'd like to have image stabilization, but it's not worth an extra $1000 to me. Maybe if the prices ever come down I'll switch, but I'm not holding my breath.
