He says he's used it for bird in flight photography, but with the auto focus on this lens, I don't see how you could do that. It worked great for egrets and other stationary birds. This lens is plenty sharp up to about 380mm and I was very pleased. Above that gets a bit soft, even with the proper shutter speed. The colors are nothing remarkable compared to the supertele primes, but that's to be expected. The coolest thing about this lens is that it comes with a rotating ring on the front so that you can keep your polarizer set as the front of the lens rotates (which it does when it focuses).
