Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens

Pros: This is the second 70 - 300mm IS lens I have recieved from Newegg. The first was defective. Thus far the len has worked very well. I've taken 100's of shots while on vacation and am pleased with most the results. The IS is great. This lens is easy to use and for the most part is self explanitory. I like the lens lock feature that facilitate carrying the camera. The two mode IS is also a nice feature.

Cons: The defective lens I originally received and returned would not sync-up with the camera's AF focusing system.
150 -200mm had extremely soft focus - 300 mm was like shooting through frosted glass. The new lens is much, much better however you may be a little disappointed in your shots if you use the 200 - 300mm range often. The overall focus in that range is a soft.

Other Thoughts: Newegg's return to replace system is the best I have ever expierenced. It was effective because I felt there was someone to contact if I had questions. Their feedback emails were clear and I felt I knew what was going on every step of the way. I wasn't thrilled that my defective lens had to go clear across country UPS Ground to Newegg - but I understand that they had to be sure that the lens was not damaged and included everything it was shipped with. That does bring up a good point - save everything that came with the lens - you just never know when you'll need to return an item. Newegg approved my return the same day they received the defective lens and shipped a new one the following day.

Pros: Amazing lens for my Canon 50D. Takes great wildlife shots during the day. Quick auto focus thanks to the USM feature.

Cons: The focus ring still extends and retracts. Wish it is fixed like my stock lens. Can hear the IS humming if its quite around you.
