Features
This telephoto zoom lens is designed with Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer technology while retaining compactness and lightness, in response to demands of photographers.

This high zoom ratio lens is equivalent to a focal length of 88-400mm in the 35mm format (when used on Canon EOS cameras compatible with EF-S lenses), and the image stabilizer effect equivalent to a shutter speed about 4 stops faster than the same size lens without Image Stabilizer. In other words, if the slowest shutter speed you could formerly hold a 250mm lens steadily was 1/250th of a second, with Canon's 4-stop stabilization correction, you could hand-hold at shutter speeds as slow as 1/15th of a second.

It also uses a UD-glass lens element to correct chromatic aberration for excellent image quality throughout the zoom range.

This new EF-S telephoto lens with great features delivers excellent performance at an affordable price for all photographers.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Crystal clear, no issues in storage, easy to go from one to the other.

Cons: None I can think of.

Other Thoughts: We've had this for over two years, still use it a couple of times a month. No issues.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Zoom Lens

Pros: I have a Canon Rebel EOS XTi Digital camera and I've been using a 28 - 90 lens that came with my wife's Canon 35mm film camera. This lens is great not only because of the telephoto capacity but the IS makes it even easier to take shots on the fly without getting blurry images.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Deal

Pros: I own a 9 year old D SLR. I treated myself to a new one and upgraded my telephoto lens. This lens is physically smaller in mm diameter than my 135 lens. It is the same length and only 1/2 oz heaver. Great lens. It has stability control. Price / everyone else wanted $100 more

Cons: There were none

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice lens!

Pros: I ordered this lens for my Canon Rebel T3 after waiting a long time for the price to get in my range. It's a fine lens for sure! Yeah I know it has a plastic ring, but hey- I cannot afford to buy the other brands that use a metal ring. Why Canon doesn't use a metal ring just doesn't make sense to me. The lens works just fine for what I want to do with it. I had to go right out after I received it and take some pictures. The auto focus worked well and the image stabilizer did it's job well also. It shipped to me in a very timely manner and it was in fine shape when it arrived at my door. I want to say Thank You to Newegg, as they are a great site to get good deals; although sometimes you have to be patient to get that good price. And I like to read all the reviews when shopping for an item as it can very helpful when making a decision. I will put in another review in a few months when I can get alot more use from this lens. But for now I am very happy with my purchase.

Cons: So far the only con and it's not that big a deal unless your really using your camera professionally is the base ring is plastic and why Canon chose to cheap out on that- I don't understand...

5 out of 5 eggsLOVE LOVE LOVE

Pros: this with the 50mm f/1.8 you dont really need any more lenses to take gorgeous pictures. they are both realtivly inexpensive, and they are super fast. You will love the images that come out of this lens.

Cons: not a one.

5 out of 5 eggsLove this lens

Pros: Cheap (compared to those other lenses), IS, zoom is pretty darn far.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Just picked this up a few weeks ago along with my new external flash. Zooms far and taken about a 1000 pictures so far with it. Holding up so far so I can't complain about anything just yet!

5 out of 5 eggsTakes Very Good Photos

Pros: Although I've had this lens for about 7 months I haven't used it very often so can't speak to it's durability but every time I have used it I was extremely pleased with the results. Reasonably fast for a telephoto and great pictures.

Cons: I compulsive look for flaws in anything I purchase. With this lens the only negative I can find is that the mount is not metal. With occasional use I doubt that this will make a difference. Maybe just as durable

Other Thoughts: I compared this to a 80-300 canon without stabilization and it makes a big difference on a telephoto for handheld shots. The stabilization works great. Would want a telephoto with out it

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Lens! Do your homework..

Pros: Awesome lens..I bought from Walmart which had the same price as Newegg so why wait? I love Newegg but Walmart online is selling this model for $50 less right now. Im surprised Newegg is allowing this to happen.

Cons: No matter where you get this lens..you're going to love it.

5 out of 5 eggsCanon T2i

Pros: Well made, holds up to humid weather very well.

Cons: screen shuts off if HDMI is plugged in

Other Thoughts: Performed very well on a Documentary trip to Costa Rica and Panama. Survived hot humid conditions, travel, white water rafting class 4 rapids and jungle hikes. I never had any problems with types of cards, or writing speeds. Battery life was excellent.
