The large-aperture telephoto zoom lens (fixed f stop type), which provides f2.0* in entire zoom area. It is equivalent to 70-200mm on a 35mm camera, and covers from medium-telephoto range of natural angles to telephoto area with a compressed perspective effect. Its fast shutter-speeds and beautifully soft out-of-focus image behind the main subject are an ideal for portrait, theatrical and sports shooting under the low-light. Luxurious optical glass elements, such as, four ED lenses and one super ED lens are used to give the highest image quality with optimal resolution and contrast.

Directly compatible with E-System cameras. Compatible with Micro Four Thirds digital cameras (PEN\OM-D) through use of the MMF-2 or MMF-3 (Four Thirds Lens Adapter to Micro Four Thirds Lens Adapter). The MMF-3 is dust and splash proof for use with that type of lens on a dust and splash proof body. Note, AF performance may diminish as compared to being on an E-System body.

5 out of 5 eggsOlympus ZD 35-100mm

Pros: A spectacular lens with essentially flawless optical performance. This is the premiere portrait lens for the Four Thirds system.

Cons: The focus motor is a little on the slow side, so it makes sense to take advantage of the focus limiter if you know that your subject will always be within one of the selectable distance ranges.

Other Thoughts: Contrary to what another review indicates, the Olympus ZD 35-100mm lens does NOT have a SWD focus motor. Anyone who has used lenses with both will immediately know the difference.

5 out of 5 eggsA note!

Pros: According to the olympus guys at PMA, the pro lenses already have the supersonic motors. Every lens will focus faster with the new engine in the 410, 510, and E-3. The SWD lenses will now use the "pro" motors.

Cons: Not really

Pros: Fixed F/2... The FIRST fixed f/2 telephoto zoom lens... Weathersealed, Fully metal body, Top notch glass. Focus limiter

Cons: A bit heavy, Not an SWD lens

Other Thoughts: Though I listed two cons... those are nothing compared to the excellent resolving power of this lens. It's heavy, but it's a good heavy. Paired up with the E-3 this thing is excellent. I used this lens for a while with an E-300 and it vastly improved the AF accuracy due to the large aperture. If you shoot with the Olympus E-System, this is one lens you want! I have done many shoots with this lens and it really is awesome. It excels as a portrait lens and does well with some wildlife as well.
