4 out of 5 eggsGood deal, BAAAD installer

Pros: Once installed, it works exactly as promised, which leads me to the cons....

Cons: The installer can't find specified files unless you manually browse to them on the CD. I thought that problem died with Win '98. Anyway, it asks for the SP2 CD, when it actually wants CD1 placed back in the drive. Then browse for the files that it can't find and the installer will complete. Annoying but typical Microsoft.

4 out of 5 eggsRead This First

Pros: Excellent OS, bootd faster than home edition and much more stable and user friendly but.....

Cons: This does have some serious problems, #1. The files system is improperly labeled durring setup so when the install gets to the file ASMS on disc 2 you are told the file is not present and please insert the disc containing this file, turns out the file is actually on Disc 1 (I did a quick search of all the install discs to find it) and you simply need to ignore the text asking for Disc 2 and insert Disc 1. #2. If you are adding a RAID array you will need your drivers handy on a 3.5 inch disc and pay attention because the promt that asks you if you are using third party drivers is at the very bottom of the screen durring the install setup and only lasts for about 4 seconds lol. #3. If you are unsure about your device setups and will be re-installing windows more than once be careful because Microsoft has embedded a program to monitor how many times you have installed this OS on a computer and after the 4th or 5th install you will told to call Microsoft ... see below for continuation

Other Thoughts: ..... or purchase another copy of windows! Naturally I was freaking out so I called them and got a less than happy man who asked me for my 30 digit refernce number which windows will spit out at ya after the 5th install and he will ask you why you have loaded the OS more than 5 times. I was then given another 30 digit number to input and now have another 5 times to install the OS ( I Hope ). Great OS except for these nagging issues which are clearly just Quality Control related except for #3 which is Fraud prevention and understandable, what isn't is that they never address in it in the Setup Anywhere so be warned. ANYWAY, do not hesitate to buy this OS it rocks, just alittle buggy durring install.

5 out of 5 eggsknow which CD is which

Pros: works just fine

Cons: CDs are labeled poorly - see below

Other Thoughts: Be SURE to know which CD is which. Service Pack 2 is located on CD 1, NOT on the Update CD as one would expect. other than that, no problems. works just fine.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It is simply Windows XP Pro with a few extras. That's good. It's cheaper than XP. That's very good

Cons: It is not compatible with all motherboards that XP is compatible with.

5 out of 5 eggsWhere do I begin?

Pros: The only reason I gave this product a 5 is because after you get it up and running, it's definitly worth the hassle, and the money I paid for it.

Cons: After the initial boot, half the media center did not work. After much trial and error, I ended up installing Windows 2K, updating to Media Center, and pulling some missing files from XP professional. I also had to pull Service Pack 2 from the web.

Other Thoughts: To install the SATA hard drive, I needed to pull the drivers from the Motherboard driver CD and stick them on a floppy. Remember to hit F6!!!

1 out of 5 eggsAVOID THIS PRODUCT!!!!

Pros: The desktop wallpaper looks nice.

Cons: This OS is horrible and completely unstable. I tried loading drivers on there and there'd be a message about not having windows installer installed and then after I'd installed SP2, it'd say the same thing, but I couldn't install windows installer, because "it was already detected on the system." What hogwash! It could ping itself, but not the router and couldn't detect a network or allow me to set one up. The wizard never completed what it said it would. After it would stop the job, I couldn't open it again. Completely worthless.

Other Thoughts: You will give yourself a stroke trying to make this work. Don't buy it!

4 out of 5 eggsFast GUI, Confusing Install

Pros: Fast interface, easy to configure, lots of "I got ya" issues with some hardware configuations but overall I resolved all issues. It is fun to use and after its setup, it flys !! I also purchased the remote and seems to work very well...very sensitive ir !! which I like. Will be looking for an HD ATSC tuner to go with it.

Cons: install confusing

3 out of 5 eggsGood... for Windows that is

Pros: A must-have for most major games, gives you almost all of the features of XP Pro, for cheaper. Works great when it's not freezing or having other problems, has some nice features that older Windows versions didn't have.

Cons: The usual nagging bugs that plague any version of Windows. I don't like the new Task Manager in XP; it's more convenient but less effective. There is an unreasonable number of services/processes running when you start Windows, and there's no way to tell which ones you want to leave running and which ones you can disable. And it's a pain how you can't order music files by modified date in Explorer. Also, the Security Center bugs you if you don't have a supported antivirus program or if you don't have automatic updates enabled, which you don't really want if you have dial-up internet. You have to go back and install .NET Framework from the main cd before you can install the Updates for 2005 disc. And a major feature that's missing is it's freakin' "Media Center Edition" and doesn't even play DVDs out of the box! So you have to purchase a compatible DVD codec for around fifteen bucks.

Other Thoughts: If only there was a perfect operating system... The Media Center software isn't much use if you're not using it for a HTPC.
