5 out of 5 eggsCamera Raw does work with Nikon D300

Pros: To counter another posting: Nikon D300 was released after Photoshop CS3, so you need to get latest Adobe Camera RAW plug-in.

Cons: Not really.

Other Thoughts: Camera RAW in PS CS3 is really much better than in CS2. I work only with RAW files and better ACR was the main advantage (togther with Windows Vista 64 bit support) to upgrade from CS2.

5 out of 5 eggsBest photo editing for real photographers...

Pros: Works quite well under Vista 64. Nice new features compared to CS2... meaning good enough that I purchased the upgrade again...

Cons: There seem to be some screen refresh issues in Bridge under Vista 64bit, but nothing really serious. They appear when I maximize Bridge window - then the image preview is displayed only partially. My work around is to manually resize the window to cover full screen and then all is fine.

Other Thoughts: I have been a Photoshop user since version 5.5. This latest version does add very useful features: mostly around black-and-white RAW processing (plus it runs on Windows Vista 64 bit).

3 out of 5 eggsRaw support poor

Pros: Works with JPG's. Much better than Photoshop 7.

Cons: The product did not come with the built in ability to work with the Nikon NEF Raw files from my D300. With some difficulty the DNG Converter works. The Camera Raw feature does not yet work. Contacting Adobe Tech Support by email for simple questions is nearly impossible without a $40 fee.

Other Thoughts: Any computer company that does not have an accessible email address for customer support should go into something else.

5 out of 5 eggsPanorama feature

Pros: Panorama feature rocks. Purchased the CS3 upgrade due to the hype surrounding its ability to build panoramas on the fly. I tried the same feature with CS2 with poor results but CS3 is phenomenal. It worked exactly as billed and is simple to use.

Cons: none other than price

Other Thoughts: I wrote this remote partly in response to other reviews which said it wasn't a worthwhile upgrade. If you want to do panorama photography, it is definitely worth it.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Adobe Photoshop rules.

Cons: Little technical difference from CS-2. The ocerall program is 20% larger than CS-2 which meansa it runs 20% slower than CS-2. Thats a lot to lose just for a polished up version of CS-2.
I purchaesed CS-3 for the upgraded options in camera RAW converter. Althoiugh theres more options. I didn't notice any improvement in color quality. I love the adobe photoshop program. Just disappointed in the upgrade. Switched back to CS-2 version. Its much faster.

4 out of 5 eggsImage Ready is gone.....

Pros: Interface is more organize than CS2, save alot of space and time finding certain memue. Most/all of Adobe production should relate to each other now (new feature include more supported export and import file)

Cons: ImageReady is gone. Might not be a big deal for some people who never use it but for old timer, it is a very useful program for web design. I know Adobe try to make Fireworks more popular but do they have to take out ImageReady? Seem kind of slow running on Vista.

Other Thoughts: Photoshop CS3 is a minor upgrade from CS2. They cram some Imageready tools into photoshop. Which is fine but nothing is really a "wow factor." Cut down work time by very little and offer not much new content. For $xxx upgrade, CS2 owner should give it a pass unless you got cash and a fair computer.

4 out of 5 eggstoo soon

Pros: Loads faster than the CS2 it replaces. Has better raw file handling than earlier version.

Cons: Still a little buggy. Have had to exit and restart the program more than once because a function would stop working and just give an error message. Very strange.

Other Thoughts: Be aware that lots of plugins that worked in CS2 do not function in CS3. I found out the hardway that one I used a lot didn't work and had to reinstall CS2 so I could use the old plugin. I would suggest you make a list of plugins you can't live without and make sure they either work with CS3 or are updatable by the plugin manufacturer. It might save some headache to wait for CS3 until all the bugs are worked out and plugins you need are available.
