Adobe Lightroom 3 Student and Teacher Edition

Pros: Loved the ability to put a slideshow to music. We put some of our island photos to a reggae beat and it was fantastic. Also liked the vibrancy and other features to make the photos 'pop'.

Cons: Putting the slideshow to music can only accommodate one song. Would be nice to have multiple songs to work with.

Other Thoughts: I'm a small camera point and shoot person, who uses this software for family photos

Pros: Good program

Cons: Horrible customer service from adobe and their third party company they use to verify student status. Adobe is unable to help with any problems in verification and blame it on identi-e.
50 minute hold time,computer generated responses to emails and inability of a human to help use makes this process horrendous. Spend the money for the full version as these people are robots and could care less about the customer. If you are suspicious, look on the website and try to get a call back or email that works.

Pros: cheap student version. works very well. I am impressed with the features

Cons: it takes some time to figure out how to use, but it is not made for beginning photo-editing.

Other Thoughts: make sure you have current proof of school registration, and a photo I'D.

Pros: Color Options, Common Brand Lens Correction, Noise Reduction, Ability to manipulate photographys down to a hair strand, Ease of use if you follow the tips and instructions (ie importing pictures to the LR library), Huge library of effects, great addition for any advanced-pro photographers!

Cons: Auto Fix is weak and could offer more compared to the other features of the software, red-eye reduction would effect other areas of the image if you are not carefull, If your image is not shot in RAW format, it will deteriorate the quality of the image ( more so than nowmal ).

Other Thoughts: Great product if you can teach yourself or dont need to be tought how to use it, If you dont have a graphics pad, then it is extremely difficult to use your mouse as a means to dial in effects of use the various brush sizes and shapes, making the smoothing or sharpening effects difficult to make look natural without the use of a graphics tablet. Bogs down a PC if you have background applications running at the same time or even internet explorer.

BUT... It was extremely easy to get verified as a Student by simply using my .EDU emial account. So all you nay sayers that say it doesnt work or you never got the code, or it took too long to get it, I got the software and registered it via my College Email Address and got the validation code instantly, no waiting for anything, so for those of you who cut corners and make things up becuase you want to get over on a couple of dollars, you wont ever get the validation codes AND THATS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE!!! SCAMMERS BEWARE!

Pros: Lightroom 3 (currently 3.5 with latest update) is the easiest photo suite I've ever worked with. It puts Apple's Aperture to shame. Lightroom has support for more cameras and lenses than you can shake a stick at, as well as amazing post-processing abilities. It saves all changes as a separate file instead of on the image so your originals will always be available.

I went from spending a good half hour per photo on a 100+ shoot in GIMP to maybe 20 minutes to get the entire collection done. Simply astonishing.

Cons: I didn't buy it from Newegg, and importing an existing photo library can be a headache. Once everything is set up in Lightroom, however, it's a breeze.

Pros: *Awesome preloaded presets (and plenty of free ones online)
*Installs quickly
*Opens/Loads quickly
*Easy controls
*Cost! If you are a student it doesn't make sense NOT to take advantage of it

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Do not be scared by other reviews: Activation was a breeze.

Pros: Lightroom is a wonderful tool for post processing your images, and help streamline your workflow for serious photographers. You can find many presets out on the web to give your photos creative looks. I like the pile of free presets from onone software and other nice people who have made their own free presets and share them with other photographers like me. Great for adjusting exposure, tone, color, hue, saturation etc etc and just being creative. My favorite is making virtual copies of a single image at different exposure values, exporting to HDR software and then produce Incredible HDR's and sharing directly to Facebook from the program

Cons: I'm not much of a complainer because most people complain about software like this because it does come with a learning curve. If you dont want to take the time to learn how to use it and apply it to your needs, then read some books (Kelby is the Authority) or watch some video tutorials before deciding if this software is for you

Other Thoughts: My 2nd grade child who loves to take pictures wanted this software for being creative with his photos...(Kinda brings a proud tear to my eye) All I had to do was email the code on the box and a scanned copy of his recent report card and a copy of my ID card with the sensitive info blanked out to the URL provided and I had my license key in less than 2 days, hassle free. Pretty sweet for saving hundreds of $$ for the full version. Already had the 30 day LR3 trial on my PC just copy/pasted the serial and BAM, no need to install from the disc. Adobe is the best ever! Newegg Rocks too! Thanks!!!

Pros: Excellent software - Just make sure to keep track of, and backup, your catalog info!!

Other Thoughts: Those fools thinking they can pull a 'fast one' on Adobe are truly foolish for writing reviews here. IF you're not a student at an accredited university, go buy the full version!! No problems with authenticating my licence keys with Adobe, and this is my THIRD purchase of their Student software. Con artists - stay away, you wont get a key if you're not actually a student :)

Pros: Adobe Lightroom gets excellent write-ups from the tech press but put it in the hands of a first timer who is also a college prof and you get a very angry first time user. First off...no company should be allowed to sell this software without a license key being attached. You cannot get a key without opening the software and you cannot return the software when Adobe refuses to give you a key once you have opened the software. See the catch-22?

Does the software work as advertised? I'll never know but rest assured that Adobe made the installation process as easy as possible for the tech press who lauded this piece of software that does nothing except lower my bank account.

Cons: This is the biggest con game you will ever see. Sure..companies like Newegg will gladly take your money whether or not you are a student but in order to turn in your code for your license key, you have to OPEN THE SOFTWARE. Since Newegg nor any other retailer is allowed to accept returned software that has been opened, you, the buyer, are harmed. The manufacturer holds all the cards and your money and you are left holding a useless box and plastic DVD disc. It's no wonder so many people turn to illegally garnered tools instead of trying to do things the legal way. This "legal" way is a major headache and it's the way a con-artist works. They take your money and won't give it back.

Other Thoughts: Unless Adobe is going to give you a key, DO NOT BUY THIS VERSION OF THEIR SOFTWARE. They take your money, record your serial number, and their website gets your computer's IP, and other identifying information, and they leave you $80 lighter and holding a worthless package that no one will take back.
