5 out of 5 eggsWoo!

Pros: Finally, a Blu-Ray playing software that isn't completely over bloated like Cyberlink. Very easy interface and little overhead on system resources.

Cons: I never got my rebate when I purchased this product, but that isn't the fault of the software. Needless to say, I am much more weary with rebates than I was before.

Other Thoughts: The only commercial alternative to CyberLink PowerDVD and far better than the same.

1 out of 5 eggsjunk

Pros: plays DVDs on some computers

Cons: Won't work on a lot of different hardware

Other Thoughts: i've used this software for about a year now. First it would not work on one of my blu-ray drives but would work on another. Corel support did nothing to help. It worked fine on an Asus PQ5 Pro with a HD5670 card. It worked on a GIGABYTE GA-G41MT-S2PT with a hd 4650, but would work at all with a Intel DG45id with a hd 4650. It would partly work if I used the Intel DG45ID with out the hd 4650, using the onboard HDMI. In that last case audio would not work on some blu-rays.
Also won't play blu-rays ripped to hhd.
I've tried a trial on PowerDVD 13 Ultra it works on all hardware so far and plays ripped blu-rays.
It cost a lot more but it works

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well for me

Pros: Plays every Bluray disk I have tried

Cons: I have not found any

Other Thoughts: Thinkpad T520 w/ Corei7 - I purchased a used bluray drive for the UltraBay and this product to play Bluray discs. So far I have not had any issues at all, it does exactly what it is suppose to do, plays the movies.

1 out of 5 eggsNOT FOR WIN 8

Pros: Works well on win7 even though i get messages saying that i need an update when i dont.

Cons: I went to upgrade my desktop and laptop to win8 because i wanted to take advantage of the upgrade price while its initially what i can afford. The ONLY program that i have installed on both systems that windows 8 tells me that wont run its this software. After asking Corel support what they have planned I was told they have nothing in the works to migrate windvd pro 11 to windows 8!? however they have many other products that are compatible, just not the one that i just purchased TWICE in the last 2 months.

Other Thoughts: I cant beleive that while the windows 8 release has been pending for over a year Corel is currently selling a product that will not work and have no plan for it to ever work. Now i have to either buy a new product or never actually upgare my PCs to anything other then what i have now if i wver want to use my 2 blu ray players.

3 out of 5 eggsOK.

Pros: Plays Blurays and updates very easily for newer movies. Play back is ok but not that great. Overall not a bad codec. When will B disk support be native on windows?

Cons: There are a few... When I switched dvd menu controls to the mouse pointer it is like playing roulette to select play for a B ray disk but a regular dvd is normal. Sometimes an additional features menu pops up during B ray playback that is also annoying and hard to remove. If there is any miniscule blemish (even a spec of dust) on a B ray disk it will stop playback and say media not supported, annoying. This happens a lot with rentals.

Other Thoughts: Still after all of the cons it does play B rays it is just a little picky about them and challenging at times. More often I have to wash rental B rays to get them to play with out problems but regular dvd disks do not have the same problem. Windvd does not make regular dvd playback look as good as Cyberlink and Corel does not pass thru more forgiving audio formats (5.1 regular Dolby...instead of Hd Dolby) for older 5.1 receivers on regular dvds. I lose the lfe channel with Corel and not with Cyberlink on my old receiver even though my mobo shoots out Hd dolby by default,,,, Cyberlink puts a signal out my older receiver can decode with no problems during regular dvd playback.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible Customer Service

Pros: It was cheap after rebate and It works on 32 bit Win 7 Pro...

Cons: ...Just not on 64 bit Win Vista Ultimate.

I was using WinDVD Pro on an HTPC that was running 32 bit Win 7. It worked fine for Blu ray playback. However I downgraded that HTPC to Win Vista Ultimate and now it won't work, go figure. I get an error message about it not being compatible with the display drivers. I emailed tech support, and they had me do the usual list of things, update drivers, reinstall, run as administrator, all of which I had already done. When that list was exhausted they told me to go any further I would have to PURCHASE a priority ticket to continue receiving tech support. And they never answered my original question about compatibility issues with 64 bit Vista.

Other Thoughts: It's not a bad program when it does work, but Corel's utter lack of customer support and focus isn't worth it. If you are dead set on using this software, download the trial version first to make sure it will work on your computer.

1 out of 5 eggsCorel WinDVD Pro 2011

Pros: None

Cons: Bought 2 Corel products, had trouble installing. Tech support was no help. They expect customers to sit home & wait for their help which may be 2 or 3 days. If their first solution does not work, wait another 2 to 3 days. All yhey want to do is Email.Never again will I buy Corel Products.

Other Thoughts: KEEP AWAY FROM COREL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!

Pros: None

Cons: This software freezes when a disk is in the player. Interface will not respond to mouse or keyboard. I had to start Task Manager to shut it down. I installed service pack 1--same results. I uninstalled then reinstalled--same results. Other reviewers are getting the same problem.

Other Thoughts: Choices are limited for Blu-ray. In this situation, Cyberlink seems to be the lesser of the evils.

2 out of 5 eggsDidn't set my computer on fire.

Pros: Unlike 10.x, didn't crash every time I opened it.
Has yet to point out how much Coke I drink.
Comes with red and blue 3D glasses that will come in handy when I build my time machine to 1962.
Also comes with WinZip Pro* for when my computer sends itself back to 1992.

Cons: Unlike 10.x, was not free.
Is pokey on a Core i7 2860 with 32 gigs physical RAM and a 520 series Intel SSD.
Comes with a license to WinZip that only works with v 15.x, when they're up to 16.5 at the time of this review.

Other Thoughts: Corel has become one of those companies who really, really, REALLY wants to pile crapware on you.

Want to install this toolbar?
Want to install WinZip?
Want to install this WinZip add-on?
Oh, sorry! Wrong version! Want to apply for a Discover card and get the new version for free? (Seriously!)

2 out of 5 eggsService could be better

Pros: Plays most blu-ray discs but then that is what is for.

Cons: Tech service is sub-par. There is no phone number to call tech assist if you have an issue but there is a online chat tech that will point the fault at everything but the Corel software. Also when you install the blu-ray disc it takes some time before the movie actually loads.

Other Thoughts: I have an issue with X-men X2 disc that Corel would crash to desktop when I selected the movie in menu. It is the only disc so far that has this issue. Online chat tech informed me that I need to update my Asus blu-ray drive when I informed him this is an older movie and Asus has no updates for thet specific drive. He pointed to DirectX, Microsoft Visual C+++, VGA driver. I informed him all that is up to date ( which it is). He went back to this is a drive issue...... No help at all. The disc was checked at the vendor's store, plays fine. Just hope you don't need tech support. I purchased WinDVD Pro 2011 on Corel's site.
