Pros: The core software is solid and get the job done.

Word Perfect reveal formatting feature still superior when trying to fight with auto formatting.

Cons: Still uses the Office 2003 style interface.
No built in cloud support (Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
No E-mail client (compared to MS Office Suite / Office365),
Installer still uses an Internet Explorer Active X control you have to click to approve on the installer box.

Other Thoughts: Corel feels like it's just going through the motions of maintaining Word Perfect and not trying to improve it.
If you had to choose between Corel and Microsoft seriously consider Microsoft.

Pros: Very easy to print an envelope even without a letter

Cons: intermittent error 38 on opening

Other Thoughts: I purchased the keycode version, when registering you need the serial number. Nothing i use works , I may have thrown something away with it on. Keep every scrap of paper so you have that serial number. Key code isn't it.

Pros: My 20-year-old doctoral dissertation was in Ami Pro and I'm very happy to now have it in Word, via this WordPerfect Office X7. Very easy to open .sam docs and then save as Word 2003. The menus are much busier than Word so I'll probably keep using Word 2010, but this did what I needed it to do. It does seem to have many more older doc formats than Word now does. A good tool to have for those of us that have been using PCs since the 80s and 90s and have stuff in many different formats. It sucks in displaywrite, wordstar, all the Ami Pro formats, even multimate, in addition to the late great WordPerfect 5.0!! How awesome that software was!

Cons: Busy crowded menus with small type. But, I'm sure I could change the settings.

Other Thoughts: WordPerfect is the only word processor I’ve found that can handle flipping landscape/portrait versions of pages without creating multiple cumbersome sections. The merge function is very intuitive. “Make it fit” is a breeze to use. When you close the last document open, you get a blank page; don’t have to start from some template. The equation editor is unusual and awesome. X7 handles more graphic formats than the other guy. And did I mention “Reveal Codes”? That feature alone is worth the purchase. The included templates are comprehensive and very good.

It’s also the only wp on the market that can really open documents created from the beginning of its history! So don’t worry about upgrading; your documents will look as you remember.

What’s new in X7? If you currently have X6, there may be some stability issues fixed. Other than that, macro can now add descriptions and view the code with the “Macro Manager.” You can add files to the Favorites Launcher and open, individually or in a group. It outputs HTML5 compliant files. If you need to import and manipulate PDF’s, get the Standard or higher version, not Home & Student.

It took a good 17 min to install on a quad core machine and looks substantially the same as X6. My advice would be if you currently use X5 or below, upgrading is worth it.

Cannot send for rebate as this is a key card only -no package for a UPC to send in! False Newegg advertising!!

Pros: Work fine and is as advertised. Loads very fast. First time I have used these products in years.

Cons: Wish they would make the interface look a little more modern. That being said, for what I paid I am pleased with my purchase.

Pros: My copy and install on a new Dell XPS 17 went perfect!! I have no idea why anyone would not get a great deal like this and not be super pleased.

Corel has great products, much superior to MS in my opinion, just not the marketing power. Also great compatibility and opens Word docs great.

Cons: None for me. Except it could be free!

Other Thoughts: WordPerfects handling of graphics is what really sells it for me. You get them right into you doc and move them without all the nonsense formatting of MSW so you save a lot of time and your time is worth the few $$ you pay instead of buying MSW for twice the bucks!

Pros: Excellent PDF importing, editing and production capabilities. WP-X7 is much improved over the previous versions. Font handling is also improved. My Brother MFC remote networked scanner also works good under this version. Could never get my Brother scanner to work under WP-X6 without the graphics conversion driver locking up. Always worked with Word 2003, so I know the issue was with WP.

Still reads my old WP5.1 docs without any issues. Try to do that with M$-Word.

Cons: None so far. I mainly use it for invoicing, so I have not used it enough to say if it suffers from the memory leaks common to the older versions. WP14 for example causes my XP system to slow down till it crashes, If I leave it leave open for more than a week, as you might when editing a large document like as book. Save often my friend!

Other Thoughts: For those complaining about the fact this is an OEM software version. I had no problems installing/licensing it on an AMD 6-core/MSI based motherboard system that I built from parts purchased from NewEgg. Usually OEM versions just restrict you to installing it on a single computer platform. It might complain if you try to install it on a large name brand like Dell or HP, but I have not personally tested this theory. In my own personal experience it installed and updated without any issues.
