Stay Away
- Pros: Booted to recovery environment when new SATA drive attached where Ghost 10.0 would not.
- Cons: Would not recognize external USB hard drive -- WD MyBook 250Gb (exotic, I know). Spent in excess of 2.5 hours with Symantec tech support (the ultimate oxymoron) finally given link to download prior version of 12.0 which did not solve problem. Renewed chat and was told to contact customer support for refund and upgrade to Ghost 14.0 -- the kiss off of death. Customer support chat unresponsive after kind introduction and requesting a few minutes to review problem. After approx. 15 min. began requesting any kind of feed back and was asked how I was doing today. It's good they care. Thereafter, nothing! No more reviewing, no more love, no more chat. Grew tired of waiting and terminated chat approx 10 min later. Horrible.
- Other Thoughts: Was much politer with Symantec chat than here. To no avail. If you run into any kind of problem with this or other Symantec product, be sure you have exhausted every possibility before contacting support. On no less than 3 occasions tech support suggested fixes which had already proven failures. The less running in and out of their chat support, so much the richer your life.
Terrible Product
- Pros: Well, Ghost 12 does backup the hard disks with what it calls "Recovery Points" -- that part seems to work.
- Cons: Well, Ghost 12 sometimes just deletes those very same recovery points, and sometimes it cannot even see those recovery points with its own software to make regular 'incremental' recovery points. Thus, it tries to make another complete backup and there of course is no room on the backup hard drive. It is not reliable, it cannot be trusted, and let's face it one needs to trust backup software.
- Other Thoughts: I am a bit shocked that Norton and Symantec can make such a terrible product. The Technical support is also not great -- no resolutions to any issues. Everyone should get a refund on this version.
Wasted $70
- Pros: {crickets chirping}
- Cons: Bought product to clone customer hard drives, eithe to make an image or to do a direct hard drive replacement. Product is now for backups and not functional for doing work on any hard driver other than your primary. They have dumbed down the product to the point it's useless.
- Other Thoughts: Get REAL software for this, Acronis makes the "True Image" product which is FAR FAR FAR superior. Don't waste your money like I did. Another product that Norton has destroyed.
