Not the same old Norton AV
- Pros: Very light weight. Fast, small disk foot print, small cpu usage, convenient to use, nice reports. My low tech family members are able to use it. I can right click on a file or directory to run the virus scan on individual files.
- Cons: None that i can think of.
- Other Thoughts: I have hated the Norton anti-virus for years. I always told people that the first thing to do when buying a new computer is to uninstall Norton. It was the quintessential example of bloatware, slowing down the computer and causing many problems. I tried most of the top 10 anti-virus product, and ignored Norton until I read somewhere that it had been rewritten to be fast, and light weight. It is indeed a completely different product, and is now my favorite AV product.
Tiny RAM Footprint - Best in a few years!
- Pros: I've been using Norton for longer than I care to remember. My last 'standby' version was Norton 2003 because it didn't have all the bloat, it did the job, and it was hassle free. I'm pleased to report that 2009 has officially taken its place. The memory footprint, easy install, and protection features that NAV2009 offer are top-notch.
- Cons: Nothing worth mentioning. Wish I could hide the tray icon.
- Other Thoughts: This is nice and lightweight, I haven't had any issue as with some of the other competing alternatives consuming extraneous CPU resources. Very pleased.
- Pros: Does the job and doesn't slow down the system. I'm using it on 4 different systems with no problems.
- Cons: None.
