5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I tend to be very cautious on my computer (some may say paranoid) and yet this has still caught some things and it doesn't get in the way (though my computer is so fast that might have something to do with it).

Cons: None

4 out of 5 eggsshort changed

Pros: Works.

Cons: Costs money

Other Thoughts: I was supposed to get a $40 prepaid visa card rebate with the purchase of this product. When I tried to use it, just days after I received it in the mail, the card only had $33 on it. Last time I buy a symantec product with any kind of rebate.

3 out of 5 eggsWhat happened with rebate.???

Pros: Don't know yet. I didn't install software yet. It has decent reputation.

Cons: Rebate ??? Can somebody tell me please if this software came with MIR of $40. I'm pretty sure I saw it there when I was placing my order on 9/26, but now it vanished

4 out of 5 eggsJust waiting on rebate!

Pros: 3 users and it's free.

Cons: Should have been free. Oh wait, it was! Resource Hog, ESET is way better, but this was for some older ladies and for them it has a nice and pretty interface.

Other Thoughts: Wish they made Win 7 so it would be free too!

1 out of 5 eggsFree after MIR... Still paid too much!

Pros: - It's a Norton product with a decent reputation.
- Free after Mail-In Rebate

Cons: - Corrupted my DVD and Blu-Ray drivers
- Corrupted WinTV Capture card driver
- Removed all of my custom program settings (ex: WMC plugins were no longer installed, NAS control software disappeared)
- Blue screened during installation, corrupting my boot sectors and threw my machine into an endless loop of blue-screens...

This is by far the most disappointed I've ever been with any piece of purchased software! I was looking for a renewal for our Norton 360 v4, but decided to hop on this NIS 2011 deal when it came up. That was the worst mistake of my software-purchasing life!

I inserted the disk and ran the installation. The setup removed older versions of Norton software and prompted a reboot, stating that I should restart installation if it doesn't do so automatically. Well, when the machine came back on, my DVD & Blu-Ray drivers were corrupt and couldn't be updated, reinstalled or removed.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if my troubles came from having a 64-bit Win7 system. Or perhaps it's because I was "downgrading" from Norton 360 (v4) to Norton Internet Security. In any case, the installation completely mangled my PVR setup.

Symantec's support site does have some supposedly updated versions of the software, but after this experience, I'm switching back to 360 and never touching NIS again!

Luckily, I created a system restore point before trying to install and the software was free after a mail-in rebate, so I'm really only losing the last 4 hours of my life. However, if you're considering this product, be warned that it may not install well in similar setups.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased

Pros: Very smooth running application vs the resource hog Norton used to be a few years ago. The features on this Software have saved me more then once from website hijacking and other malicious threats.

Cons: There seem to be a couple of other competitors that have gained higher marks in reviews over the last year, but I will stick with Norton for now.

Other Thoughts: I have used Norton Internet Security for a couple of years now, since it became so vastly improved. I purchased this for a friend on a promotion, and it was a terrific deal. I hope Norton can keep up the great work and remain competitive and a leader.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat software

Pros: I have been using NIS for years. It has kept my systems virus-free this entire time. Doesn't hog resources either.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: How can you go wrong with such an excellent utility....and especially when it's FREE (with rebate of course)???!!!

5 out of 5 eggsAAAA++++

Pros: As an IT I have worked with McAfee and Nortons anti-virus and I'll take Norton Anti-Virus over McAfee anytime. In fact, working on PCs on my own time, I make more money when someone has chosen McAfee for there anti-virus.

Cons: None
