1 out of 5 eggsNo wonder

Pros: I owned Nero 6, 7, and 9...all good products, until...

Cons: I tried to re-install my copy of Nero 9, and it would not allow me to use it. It said the key was already in use. So I tried Nero 7, and same thing. My HDD had crashed, and it's the same machine, except for the drive. Why should I have to re-purchase my software? It's expensive enough to replace the HDD without having to purchase all new software, too. What a rip!

Other Thoughts: I thought it might just be a glitch, and I would just go ahead and get the new version....until I saw the reviews! Wow! It always happens, sooner or later, a good company gets awful management and destroys what was once the best product on the market. Same thing is happening with Acronis. Glad I saved that 10 year old copy of Roxio! It gave me no trouble installing, and works great on Win 7 64! Guess I'll have to see what they are like now.

1 out of 5 eggsAviod like the plague.

Pros: Ok, till it you run into problems. Other than that only cons.

Cons: First off Nero monitors how many times you reinstall the program and will void it out if reinstall more than I think 5 times. I contacted Nero about this and their customer support was the 100% worst I've ever dealt with. To contact technical support they charge $1.29 a minute which for the time you're on the phone with them you could buy 3 whole new programs, so that was something I refused to do. Why should any of us pay for support on a product we bought. They also tried giving me an email address to get a new key and NEVER got back to me and I'd guess never will. Avoid all Nero products because of these reasons.

Other Thoughts: Unless they they get rid of that fee based technical support and start answers their and caring about their customers I'll tell everyone that asks me to avoid any of their products at all cost. But Newegg still rocks.

1 out of 5 eggsSaved my money

Pros: Nero was great a few years ago...

Cons: No Bluray playback?? Even on sale, this is worthless to me... WIN 7 burns CDs just fine for the half dozen I burn in a year.

Other Thoughts: I'm glad I read the reviews first and saved my money. As for the guy who purchased the upgrade, what is your point? Have you used this version?

1 out of 5 eggsShould have the reviews

Pros: Nero is great burning software, but...

Cons: I made an assumption that being able to burn bluray discs would allow me to play bluray discs. Nope that was an addional $29.99 upgrade to Platinum... So much for the good deal.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for software to play bluray discs, keep looking.

1 out of 5 eggsOnly hype and no truth

Pros: Nero Express and Burning ROM works fine.

Cons: However, Nero Recode and Nero Video are very unstable. Frequent crashes. Never was I able to edit or recode any of my videos. Very buggy.

Other Thoughts: At the end of the day, a very fancy, expensive DVD/Blueray burning software. No better than very easily available freewares. Made a fool of myself in trusting such a hyped-up, worthless piece of software.

1 out of 5 eggsWill not play blu-ray movies.

Pros: Zero unless you only want to goof around with your home movies.

Cons: This program will not allow you to play blu-ray movies without an additional purchase.

Other Thoughts: I guess I should not have assumed a video "suite" of programs would allow me to simply play a blu-ray movie on my PC. Silly me.

2 out of 5 eggsVery disappointed with Nero 12

Pros: I have used previous Nero programs and found them to work quite satisfactorily.

Cons: Nero claims to work with most common video types. Neither Nero Video 12 nor Nero Recode 12 is able to handle *.FLV files. I have e-mailed Nero Support but since they are in Europe there is quite a delay in responses as they are awake when we sleep and sleeping when we are awake, except for a narrow time window. In searching for help on the web I find others having similar problems.

Other Thoughts: I guess I wasted 30 bucks (purchased from NewEgg on sale). I've received two replies from Nero Support, the first requesting a screen capture image and secondly that I download a Nero program which will look at logs and system settings. (I promptly sent the image and the log files. I also plainly stated that the .FLV file was one which had worked quite well with Nero 11.) The second reply included the statements: "According to the log file and the screenshot, it seems that the .flv file is not supported by Nero Video 12, there is only audio file in the video. Sometimes, there can be special video codecs that Nero does not support.
Is the flv file complete? Can you play it normally on your computer?
Apparently the tech support person did not bother to read my one simple statement that the file worked okay with Nero 11.

1 out of 5 eggsnot what it promisses

Pros: cant think of any

Cons: i had nero 10. when i updated, the update took audio and video codecs that were originally in the suite out. so i thought id upgrade to nero 12. they were not in it either. you can not burn bd video, and some audio can not be decoded. total waste of money! support non existant!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat End-User Product

Pros: This software is a great end-user package which includes a little of everything you need for home use. From video editing, system backup, Blu-Ray playback, to Recoding for other devices! I especially like the recode changes as now you can save "all" settings for defaults and load up multiple encodes at a time. Makes packing up for a trip nice and easy!

Cons: Only Con was getting Blu-Ray playback to work. There were some patches needed, then all was fine.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this software directly from Nero for about the same price (upgrade). I skipped the last version to move to this one. I did this as I was moving to Windows Server 2012 (yes it does work on it... 'Nuff said). This is a great upgrade that really made me feel I was getting a value for the upgrade!

1 out of 5 eggsCaveat Emptor

Pros: Absolutely None. I removed from my system and threw the software in the trash.

Cons: Never worked for editing Media Center Recorded TV. Tech Support wasn't. See the Nero forums and be prepared to spend a great deal of time getting things working or rebuilding your system. Read Newegg software return policy - No refunds on "opened" software.

Other Thoughts: Do not be tempted to jump on this for the sale price. You'll spend much more in wasted time and aggravation.
