ESET Smart Security 5 - 3 PCs

Pros: Not only is this program efficient in memory, but also perfect on the interwebs front. You have an amazing way of customizing your options and usage. (Btw don't listen to these other reviews about the notifications, because that is easy to disable. Check Other Thoughts on how.) You have the ability to write your own scripts with their script tool and implement them easily into your program.

1. In the "Setup" tab, then scroll to bottom and "Enter advanced Setup", then to "User Interface" and notifications are right there.

Pros: *Fast Scans
*Allows you to scan external drives as soon as they are connected
*Top notch protection

Cons: *Bulky
*Slow on older computers with limited resources
*Usually one of the most expensive Security packages

Other Thoughts: This is by far the best Security package available, run this with Malwarebytes pro and you pretty much have the most solid protection available.

Pros: I like the robot picture on the box

Cons: Increased boot up times on my Win7 64bit computer by 400% defeating the whole purpose in upgrading to a SSD hard drive. Shut down my home private network of 4 Win7 computers with error message P2PIMSVC and/or PNRPsvc is not working. Would not allow my computer to communicate with Cisco servers to activate my Network Magic Software. The Scans on adding any new removable media (such as USB flash drives) was painfully slow and basically shut down any simultaneous multitasking while it scanned.

Other Thoughts: I am going back to Webroot which set the high standard for me last year. I was hopeful ESET could match Webroot but I was wrong.

Pros: This software has the smallest resource/memory footprint of most of it's competitors. It is customizable and works well on both home computers and business computers

Cons: Although the user interface is meant to be friendly and helpful, to get the full power of this software you have to be able to dive into the settings, and many novice to intermediate computer users may find this intimidating.

Other Thoughts: I worked for an ESET reseller for a year and have first hand experience with it. I have seen ESET clean a computer when nothing else had worked.
Be aware, however, that no matter what praise I or anyone gives this or other anti-virus/spam software, that does not make them infallible. As long as there are people programming viruses, root-kits, and malware, there will always be the risk of software failing to catch all instances.

Pros: Best security ever. Since I started using it i have no problems with viruses. ESET warns you when a treat is found. Keeps you computer clean and does not reduce speed.

Cons: None if you buy it at discount.

Other Thoughts: I tried Norton, McAfee, Spyware Doctor, etc. None of them work as well as ESET. I paid more than $75 for Norton suite and it slow down my machine and after a couple months I found a virus. At work we use Norton and found viruses here and there. Note using Norton is not my choice

Pros: Been with ESET since 2005. Great Anti Spyware-Anti Virus product. Bought the 3-PC User CD for $29.99 back in Sept. Installed with little trouble, it basically sets itself up. It's caught all viruses so far, I'm used to ESET so I doubt if I'd change. If I did, I might try "VIPER", they are based in Florida. ESET's Tech office is in San Diego, their main office is in Slovakia or some place like that. That being said, ESET's worked good for me all these years.

Other Thoughts: I called ESET in San Diego and complained about their renewal prices. The sales guy told me that they'd rather their ESET customers bought ESET from other Vendors as it was cheaper. A 2-PC user, 1 year License was about $80.00 direct from ESET. I went to Newegg and got a 3-PC user, 1 year License (CD), for $29.99, and free shipping? Easy choice... I also bought SuperAntiSpyware on line as its compatible with ESET. Both work great.

Pros: I do feel really secure with the Anti-virus program -- I know of only one that might be better. I have been using Eset Anti Virus & went & bought this as maybe an even better deal

Cons: Firewall does not work very well. [1] It can not stealth your machine. You are visible to pinging as it replies. TECH support in NONE existent on the firewall. Even though you are visible to the whole internet, it did cut my TV off from my computer files -- that were shared & still are but not available anymore. I did wait 10 days for a reply from TECH support --- going to uninstall & put in ZoneAlarm FREE --- I am wondering if I un-install on the 2 machines it is on -- I could trade for Eset Antivirus --- LOST MONEY FOR A COMPANY THAT NOW WANTS TO BE THE FACEBOOK OF PROTECTION -- BUT CAN NOT STEALTH YOUR MACHINE & THAT MAKES YOU OPEN TO ATTACKS.

Other Thoughts: Look for GRC [they make Spinrite -- best HDD utility in the world for keeping you hard drives spinning like a top] type into Google "GRC & Shields Up" there you can see -- that everyone can see your computer & sense they can see it --- they can get in if they try hard enough.... Turn off Eset firewall & install ZoneAlarm & POOF your computer is gone & not to be seen.. You must be seen to be attacked -- UP TO YOU

Pros: Starting using this program back at Smart Security 3 and i love it...just buy a renewal each year when newegg has it on sale...cant beat $30 for one of the best security programs for your computer...definitely a must buy

Cons: None...Well...No lifetime subscriptions =(

Pros: Works well in Typical Mode.

Cons: Too much of a Nanny in advanced mode. So called Parental Mode is a liability when you are the only one over 40 playing computer games at home. It will halt your machine and demand gamer mode to be disabled.

Other Thoughts: I pulled the ESET and reinstalled it with typical settings. This way it will be quiet and work without interfering with computing or gaming. I also own ESET 4 and am more than pleased with it.

Pros: Small overhead
excellent malware removal

Cons: Not the best protection in the industry

Other Thoughts: I went up from Antivirus 5.0 to this, because my license has expired and I got a good deal on this ($9.95 after $40 rebate).

The installation on all of my three laptops is now flawless and the protection is good.
