Industry Standard
- Pros: Well it is the industry standard as close as you can get. MS Office 2007 for Windows is the Industry Standard. As an ex-IT manager, let me tell you most users never use even 10% of what it can do, and most create hacked documents. We are all stuck using MS Office. Apple iWork is only a toy compared with this. But although iWork could do about all any student would need to do, most colleges essentially force you to use MS Office. Using a Mac always add complications like with Blackboard and sharing documents, especially complex ones. For Blackboard part of the problem is getting real Mac support.
- Cons: With a Mac and within OSX you will never have MS Access so it is not here or anywhere else or will ever be. The Windows 2007 and Mac product and very different. Yes you can exchange documents, but really offices don't want to provide support when it comes to many creators/editors. You can use this at home fine and for college for you projects but buy a book on it for each part you use. For an office that is standardized on MS Office and have enterprise systems, well, I wish you luck. Better dual boot or by a Win 7 PC. As all MS products you will be applying updates all the time and run into issues like an office app running so you can't upgrade until you close it (but I ran update from with an office app!) and install messages underneath other windows so it is not obvious you are being prompted etc etc. It made me sick to have to pollute my Mac with this but I had no choice I had to use it period.
- Other Thoughts: Well for most colleges you need WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT. Even if you only do presentations you will often be told to "do it in Powerpoint". So if you have a new Mac, this is what you need, but realize, with most colleges you complicate your life using the best Operating System (OSX) and best hardware (APPLE). If you are very good technically well then you have less of an issue, if you always need help you may not get it. THIS VERSION IS A GREAT DEAL SO BUY IT (and not try to steal a copy).

- Other Thoughts: Allows me to do work related stuff at home on my Mac, very convenient and I don't have to worry about any compatibility issues.
