5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Realistic, flexible, easy to use.

Cons: Seems the program crashes itself if you ask too much of it.

Other Thoughts: Aviation enthusiast, LOVE FSX! Using my modern budget machine all settings are maxed out and look great while retaining completely smooth gameplay.

5 out of 5 eggsSatisfied Customer

Pros: It's a boxed game/simulator and included everything described (3 DVDs + license keys). Price was decent too. Although it's an older game, I love that it was still available from NewEgg. Installed Acceleration expansion pack last weekend and it works well. Intend to use all 3 DVDs to reinstall once I get a new rig.

Cons: none.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Sim for the longest....

Pros: Best flight sim out there other than a full blown commercial setup. A lot of 3rd party add-ons. MS hasn't supported this for quite some time but the program is still going strong. Over the years I have used it with all sorts of hardware and I am still enjoying this proggie. Just like flying you need to pay attention to details, I really have never had a problem installing the base proggie and the acceleration pack.

Cons: Wish they had an upgrade as this program is ACES. Pun intended. The new MS Flight is more gamey and less sim and too proprietary for me. This program should be placed in the public domain or open sourced for the future. I know MS sold the rights to this to a commercial outfit to produce real life sims. It can be that good with the right add-ons.

5 out of 5 eggsNot perfect, but it is cool.

Pros: I did not get this on newegg and I have had this sim for years.I have run it on 4 or 5 gaming pc's over the years as I upgraded my pc's and I can tell you that to run this sim at max settings you do need some powerful hardware.
I run this now with an AMD phenom II X6 1100t cpu on a Gigabyte 990 motherboard.
I use a hyper 212+ cpu cooler with 2 120mm fans.
I have hyperx ddr3 1600 ram 16gigs.
My video card in this pc is a EVGA GTX560ti 2gb card running at stock settings.
XFX XXXedition pro 850wt power supply.
WD caviar black hdd 750 gig.
Cooler master 932 HAF pc case.
2 Kaze master pro fan controllers on all case fans.
HP 1270 optical drive.
Windows 7 home pre OS.
This same system but with an EVGA GTX460 2gb video card in it was the first system I ran it on that could run it at max game setting and still run @ around 60fps @ 1920X1080p res with no stuttering of the video playback in the sim.
I have run it with much less hardware in my system but not at max setting and around

Cons: None... You just need a solid system to get the most out of this sim...To get the best performance you will have to put time and money it a solid gaming system to run this sim at max settings and higher fps.
You will also need to order a good solid flight stick and throttle setup to controll the aircraft..
I have an EVGA GTX560ti 448 classified video card that will run this at max setting super easy and run cool doing it.This card can crush this sim alone but I run 2 of these cards I ordered from newegg in an X58 gaming system I have and I still what an evga gtx580 3gb video card to run.
Its all comes down to what you want to put into your system as to how well sims or games run and perform.
You can never have to much ram,to many video cards installed,to much cpu performance or to much cooling performance in your system.
So don't let anyone tell you that what you are running will do.If you can upgrade do it.You will need all this performance running the newer flight sims and game

Other Thoughts: I have 2 of the EVGA GTX460 2gb cards that I ordered from newegg and I have put them in this system and run this sim befor I went to the EVGA GTX560ti 2gb card.
The only thing that it helped out with 2 of the gtx460 cards running was it gave me a higher fps rate while running the sim.Thats all and with,1 gtx460 it ran around 60fps most of the time and the video playback was solid and smooth.I ran it with one to keep the heat and sound of the fans down becase the single card ran it perfect anyway.
I have run it with an evga gts450 1gb card but it could not run at max game setting or near 60fps smoothly. Most of the time with the gts450 it ran around 30fps to 40fps running smooth. When I was runnig the gts450 I was also only running an amd phenom II X4 955 cpu.I only ran 8gigs of hyperx ddr2 1066 ram.The motherboard was a gigabyte 785 board.
XFX black edition 750wt power supply
It ran fine with less HIGH performance hardware like I said but it would not run no where near max game setti

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice Looking Case

Cons: Run two pretty good size computers Win 7 64 bit.

Wouldn't get past install wizard as to loading.
Many other games and no problems loading.

Error codes 1607 one of them.
Even tried to load from inside the config folder.
No Luck.

Other Thoughts: Really looking forward to it.
Unless can think of something else to try, Going Back.

2 out of 5 eggsPretty

Pros: Beautiful scenery. More accurate geographically, than previous versions. Variety of aircraft to choose from.

Cons: This is a very good example of bloatware. It might run smoothly on the top end 2011 gaming computer, but, other than that you'll have to scale the graphics way back to get it to run without hiccups. It takes way too long to load.

Other Thoughts: I, also, have FS2002. For flying fun, it's the way to go. I almost never use Flight Simulator X.

5 out of 5 eggsEven now it is still the king

Pros: Fantastic sim as FS has allways been. Even though the graphics are getting a bit long in the tooth. The overall feel of the game still makes it the finest of its kind. Get the gold edition if you are shopping this title. The price is right, and even todays mid range systems can run it very well if not maxed out.

Cons: None at all that I can see.

Other Thoughts: I have read several posts regarding system requirements and install problems.
My current computer is a run of the mill system consisting of
AMD Phenom2 x4 945@3012Mhz(with a cooler master212 cpu cooler. Get the best cooling solution you can for this processor.)-
Asus m4n68t-m Bios 1004 -
ATI hd5450 1GB -
8 gig Kingston hyperx@1600Mhz -
500Gb western digital sata hdd -
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.
I flew from San Antonio to Dallas in the Beech Baron. All at max settings in 1920 x1080 16 bit. I held 30 frames per second the whole time processor temp hit 103F and the gpu hit 104F. Never a glitch. Anyone with a love of flight will evjoy this game.

2 out of 5 eggsBeen using MS Flight sim since version 4.0 and the pattern continues

Pros: It is the best Flight Simulator on the market and has great 3rd party support. High end year model 2011 hardware will run this 5 year old game/sim at fluid frame rates for all resolutions up to but probably not including 1080p

Cons: I have been using MS Flight Simulator since version 4.0 and a loyal customer since version 5.0. To be completly honest every version after 5.0/5.1 has failed to meet my expectations. Sure, FS95 on paper, or screen shot for that matter, was way ahead of its time but once you load it on your newest $2,500 top of the line Pentium computer at 800x600 res dissapointment comes quick with horrible frame rates. Even after Flight Simulator 98 came out with 3d acceleration, my brand new $500 dual SLI Voodoo 2 cards still had issues at full detail. As evolution of hardware and MS Flight Simulator moved forward MS Flight Simulator continued to require hardware years ahead of the current time to operate at full detail.

Also, the flight model is OK until you get in any type of unusual attitude, then "impossible" things will happen

Other Thoughts: This game certianly will give the average person a very good idea of how and what it is like to fly the real thing. I certianly wouldn't use it as a training aide, but it will very much put you ahead when you do your first flight lesson with a certified instructor.

This game is certianly good for "all ages"

I rate this game with only 2 egg's, but for the curious mind or flying nut it is defiantly a WORTH BUYING software

3 out of 5 eggsLooks like FS 2002-04 alot

Pros: MS flight Sim has been the best hands down. This one for its time did not dissapoint. F-18 is nice, but the afterburner on it looks dumb. That ruins everything. But then the carrier landing and takeoff, although it gets old, is a welcome addition.

Cons: OH, its really hard to read the gauges at 1080, its like they didnt think about hd.

It looks like junk compared to dx11 games now, crysis puts it to shame, but it is only supposed to be a flight sim. It also really taxes my 8gb of ram, 1090T and 6970, if you put it on maximum settings, High works just fine, but something is wrong with their code or something. Too much effort is thrown at the graphics of the airports.

Other Thoughts: if you cant wait for what they have next, then get this. Dont get me wrong, it looks decent, for a game 10 years ago :p The airplanes themselves look good, but the cockpits look WAY dated.
