Works with ease, worth it for the Windows 7 Upgrade
- Pros: 64-bit version allows for more than 4GB of RAM, which with Vista I highly recommend. I'm sitting here just installing Windows Updates, with current memory usage right @ 2GB. For the guy who complained about the annoying "Do you wish to allow Access" prompts, those can easily be removed by turning off the "User Account Control" feature under Windows Security Center... The package I bought came with the current Windows 7 RC as well as a free coupon to update to Windows 7 when it is actually released.
- Cons: This is an OEM version, meaning you can ONLY install it on one single computer (configuration). With the retail version, Windows can be installed on only ONE computer at a time, but it can be a different computer.... But since this was known ahead of time, I still gave it 5 eggs...
It is well known that Vista is much more of a resource hog compared to XP.... However if you can deal with Vista, this deal is worth the money IMO for the free Windows 7 Upgrade...
- Other Thoughts: I have yet to install Windows 7 RC, so I cannot comment on that...
Current Setup: AsRock a780gxe AMD Phenom II 940 @ 3.0 Ghz 4GB Dual Channel kit memory Sapphire Radeon 4850 1GB 2x500gb SATA 1x200gb IDE Soundblaster Audigy
Whats the big fuss about?
- Pros: I went with the Windows Vista 64 bit operating system because of the built-in security features and the 64 bit addressing capability it has to the memory via my i7 core processor. Also, I have not had a problem out of Vista on my laptop other than a wireless IP address issue. Went to Microsoft’s TechNet and found the solution for that problem. The Vista 64 bit installation went flawless. It recognized all my hardware and addressed all 6GB of memory. The system has been very, very stable as it has been running for over a week. All of my 32 bit software loaded and runs very fast. I’m not sure what other people are doing to their computers to give Vista a bad name. I think they have hardware or just a lack of understanding issues more than Vista issues. This is a good solid operating system. I have numerous other OS under my belt that the common person doesn't know they exist. I feel I can expertly say that Vista is good.
- Cons: None really... It loaded fine, runs fine, gee what more could a person want??
- Other Thoughts: A "Preconfigured" system doesn't mean that it follows the hardware guide lines Microsoft pubish for Vista... just a thought.

Vista OS SYSTEM
- Pros: Well it sound like a good buy when i read about it but as it turn out its BLAH
- Cons: Its doesnt want to install it doesnt pick up my SATA, it wouldnt be much of a problem if it was an older system but its not its brand new, everything.
- Other Thoughts: Dont buy there OS Software. My over all rating is ZERO because it doesnt work i had to select one star or it wouldnt let me continue
Vista
- Pros: works with 95% of the available software today...came with the upgrade to Win. 7
- Cons: those annoying security questions...knocked down an egg for this...haven't spent the time figuring out how to disable those. I'll get around to it one of these days. Microsoft should have known this would be a PITA
- Other Thoughts: Does this make sense:
A wife and an OS have their similarities... - Both will stop working, with no notice, with no reason
- Pros: Fast, nice graphics, easy networking, 64 bit.
- Cons: Could be cheaper...
- Other Thoughts: So sick of everyone saying Vista sucks. Good disinformation in the stupid Mac commercials I guess.

In addition to all previously released updates, SP1 contains changes focused on addressing specific reliability and performance issues, supporting new types of hardware, and adding support for several emerging standards. SP1 also continues to make it easier for IT administrators to deploy and manage Windows Vista. Service Packs are not intended to be a vehicle for releasing significant new features or functionality; however some existing components do gain slightly enhanced functionality in SP1 to support industry standards and new requirements. |
