Great operating system
- Pros: I've been using this operating system since September of 2006 and I've loved it the whole time, even during the dreaded "SP1" stage. I've always thought it was a great OS and never had any problems with it. I finally bought this version (Ultimate 64bit) in May 2009 because I figured I should go legit and support a product I like and use.
Lots of great features, vastly more stable than any other operating system I've used - including OSX. This version of Windows is a beast and it's great.
- Cons: It takes a lot of RAM and Graphics capabilities to get the full experience. It wasn't a problem for me since I want all that anyway, but for many users, an OS that takes ~1GB of RAM to run smoothly at all just wasn't economical. Too bad.
Other than that, there really aren't any OS cons.

- Other Thoughts: If I buy this disc (Vista Ultimate 64bit) NOW (June 09) I get a free upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. Because I bought it in May, I have to pay $219 + tax to get Windows 7 Ultimate. Why am I being shafted in the... just for buying a product earlier? Quite frankly, if I had the extra money lying around, it would be more economical for me to buy a SECOND COPY of Vista Ultimate just for the free upgrade!
Microsoft: I'm a loyal customer who has ALWAYS promoted Windows and Microsoft in general. My arguments and proof and personal experience have won over MANY undecided buyers and even a few Apple users. My advertising alone has probably gained Microsoft thousands of dollars, and now I'm being completely thrown under the bus because I bought the Ultimate version of Vista earlier this year.
I will only be a loyal customer through a certain number of betrayals. If you continue to abuse my loyalty to your company, my loyalties will fade. Offer a free upgrade for Vista Ultimate purcha

Love the new price
- Pros: Free upgrade to windows 7, price
- Cons: You need a good system to run vista and win. 7, 64 bit offers upgraded RAM over 4GB
- Other Thoughts: Why would you buy window 7 for more than this when you can get two for the price of one!! I just purchased this for a new build I am putting together, now just need the case, cant wait to get it done, I am probably going to install the 7 on my new build and the vista one I am building for my mom.
Awesome OS
- Pros: I love vista. I also got this item for windows 7 but I don't know why everybody dosen't like it.
- Cons: It is a little slow, but when you build a computer you want it to be fast and the specs should just handle this os fine.
- Other Thoughts: Overall I think this is a great operating system. I got my windows 7 upgrade the day after windows 7 came out. Windows 7 is truly amazing!

Finally...
- Pros: MS finally got Vista right. Stable as can be and multitasks well. More intuitive and less obtrusive than Vista. Less of a memory and resource hog also. Still like XP but this version of Windows in 64 bit works very, very smoothly! Have use the grc for many months... but this is slightly cleaner and tuned better.
- Cons: Bought an upgrade so I tried that route over Vista64. Sat for 8 hours and never got finished. Stopped it and did a clean install. I tried the upgrade routine several times - each time after re-installing my imaged drive. Tooooo slow. Faster to just clean install.
- Other Thoughts: Upgrade dvd does NOT do a compliance check for previous version media as in the past. A clean install is painless and simple. Get an upgrade and save money!
