Don't complain if you don't do a clean install!
- Pros: Well, it's a great OS. Runs smooth as silk, if not smoother! Runs my games better than XP or Vista did. Very intuitive interface. Everything is sleek, looks great, and really takes advantage of my high end hardware. I get the maximum benefit of my toys that I spent so much money on. However even if you don't have a high end system, you will get MORE out of what you DO have because it takes up very little resources and makes the most out of what you have. I just can't get over how much better the release to market version (this one) is even over the release candidate which I used for several months. It installs progs faster, reboots faster, starts up faster, and shuts down faster. I also like how the gadgets can be docked anywhere w/o that ugly sidebar, too! This OS is simply heads over heels better than Vista and XP, too. So don't listen to those who are complaining for shaky reasons to say the least. I am a pro when it comes to technology and this is the best Microsoft OS out there
- Cons: None, honestly. If you are running a very very old computer, you might have trouble running the OS. However if you were able to run Vista, then you will DEFINITELY be able to run this .. even if you have a lackluster PC. I would have liked to see a couple of minor other features included but they aren't important. I also can't understand why MS made this a "upgrade' version yet it did not ask me for an XP or Vista CD key or anything, either. I guess its just to make a few extra bux. Also they had been saying it wouldn't come with a 64 bit disc and that you'd have to download the 64 bit version. That wasn't the case either. Came with that AND the x32 bit, too. So those are two pleasant suprises to say the least. I made a complete backup to my external HDD just incase I ran into any future troubles .. but I don't think there will be any. So yeah these aren't really cons but actually pros. If these things WERE problems though .. I might have been a bit annoyed. Thankfully it wasn't so!
- Other Thoughts: Wow .. anyone who is calling Windows 7 buggy and then admits they did an UPGRADE instead of a clean install really needs to have their tech card taken away, to be honest. If you can do a clean install, and you can, you need to do that. Not an upgrade. Microsoft, Apple, and even the Linux people all say you need to do CLEAN installs. Upgrades leave old files behind. They can cause conflicts and bugs and errors. Not to mention rootkits and bad stuff like that, as well. They made it so you can do a clean install (by clicking 'custom' during the install) and they did it for a reason. So if you do that .. don't come giving the OS a bad review just because you don't know how to install an operating system. Go back up your key files and music or whatever else you want to save and then to a CLEAN .. FRESH install .. and I guarantee your issues with "bugs" will be gone. This OS is much better than Vista (which wasn't as awful as many noobs say) and anything else out there ATM. Nuff said.
sweeet
- Pros: I love the new taskbar. Stable as anything. I have the new release, but I have been using RC1 also since it was released. Benchmarks say it smokes the previous OS. It might be a tad bid faster on some test and tad bid slower on other test when it comes to XP, but you shouldn't notice it. Boots up on my laptop in like 30 seconds, shuts down crazy fast.
- Cons: I don't know of any.

- Other Thoughts: i moved from vista 32 to win7 64. with a antec 900 case. used to have a realtek control panel but cannot get it back with win7.
Fast
- Pros: Upgraded from Vista. Seems to be a bit faster at starting up and shutting down. My screen looks brighter, clearer.

- Other Thoughts: Came with 2 DVD's (32 and 64bit). I wish that you could install it on two computers.
