5 out of 5 eggsThe Last One?

Pros: The best Microsoft Windows to date, comes with 32/64 bit disks, can perform either an upgrade or clean install depending on previous O/S.

XP was good, Vista was great, Win 7 rules!

Cons: Price.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from Vista Home Basic. No issues other than I uninstalled some software flagged by Win 7 Upgrade Advisor. Wanted to slap Win 7 on before they quite selling it - and I think I bought the last upgrade Newegg had in stock.

1 out of 5 eggsDisscussed

Pros: None... Beware

Cons: Can't stand this microsoft software game.......
Bought this being fairly sure that I could upgrade my existing Vista ultimate OS without losing all my programs in the process, some of which I can not replace since I no longer have the installation discs to them....
Come to find out after trying to do the upgrade, that it comes back saying that an upgrade option is not possible and that I have to do a clean install ... This didn;t make sense,... So I went on line to research what the problem was and find out that in order to do what I needed to do I would have to purchase the windows 7 ultimate upgrade version....
Well I wish that that information was somewhat listed here before I bought the one I did.... Now I can't return the one I have because it is open, and have to fork over another 200.00 to get the software version I need...
Can;t believe this.... no wonder people get so upset with MS.... it truly is a horrible disease we are left to cope with...
Was hoping that the egg could have done something about this.. but alas to no avail.... woe is me...

5 out of 5 eggsSuccess

Pros: I wanted to convert from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Win 7. Took me s while to figure it out but succeeded. Put in another 4 GB RAM and turned this 7 year old Dell e520 into the computer I always wanted it to be.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have wanted to learn how to build my own system. I decided as a first step to revamp my old Dell. Took out the 320 GB hard drive and put in a 1 TB. Added 4GB RAM for a total of 6GBs. Best of all I now have Win 7. I love it.

4 out of 5 eggsvista to 7

Pros: Very easy install.
Comes with both 32 and 64 disks.
Changing from 32 to 64 was easier than the internets lead one to believe.

Cons: The only two cons are:
1. this is necessary for a gamer
2. Price
It is commonly agreed that the price should be 50-60 dollars per activation. But since 1 exists, they can do whatever they want with 2. Until some other OS makes the jump to being where windows is currently, gamers are gonna have to shell out premium cash for the premium systems.

Other Thoughts: I was told going from a 32 to 64 was a hassle and would result in me losing all my data. This was not true. It just put everything into a windows.old on the drive and i could drag and drop everything over. I wanted a clean install so i just deleted the .old (diskcleanup, other drives). Still, i like the option.

I will put this warning here: i bought an alienware back when alienware were cool. I fell for the alienfx lighting because i am easily amused and i spent many hours playing with the lights. It turns out the software for my old system is only compatiable with vista 32, so that sucked but hardly anyones fault but my own (and alienware, selling a paid feature on a gaming computer that isnt usable in THE gaming os system?for shame). Just my experience.

5 out of 5 eggsPebkac Reviews

Pros: Solid and Stable

Cons: To many people claiming to have "High" tech knowledge and then spew nonsense. The person that claimed Windows 7 took 44 hours to install I would suggest that you upgrade your Commodore 64. There is obviously something wrong with your hardware

Other Thoughts: It is really getting old reading reviews from people who mark their tech level as "high" and then write bone headed reviews about how something doesn't work. Or that Windows 7 doesn't work with their old hardware. How can it be Microsoft's fault that the old hardware you have doesn't have 64-bit drivers??? Statements like like prove that your tech level is not high. Just because you can plug in peripherals and play a video game does not make you a tech

5 out of 5 eggsLove win 7 but dont get full version, get upgrade version

Pros: I love windows 7 and home premium is all you need

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Dont get full version, get upgrade version because if you have any other windows version laying around, you can use the upgrade version as a clean installed new version

steps:
-install old windows (ex. Windows XP)
-restart computer and boot off of windows 7 disk
-some time before the installation starts for 7, it will ask you what partition you want to install to
-here you can reformat and delete the XP partition and 7 will install to the completely blank partition

So basically you install to a blank hard drive. It doesn't get any cleaner than that!

5 out of 5 eggsworks fine for me

Pros: had no issues with this system. loaded the 64 bit version without inputting the key code numbers, once booted up insert the disc and reload as an upgrade putting in the key code. Activation worked immediately with no issues. This is the second computer I have built in two months doing it this way

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsWindow with a Clear View

Pros: Best version of Windows Microsoft ever made, hands down, they should just stop now and update this forever and ever. Just improve upon near perfection.

Cons: It's not free.

Other Thoughts: Got this for a person I know. She was worried about going from XP to W7. I assured her that it was easier and better then XP. Within minutes she was an old pro. Of course her applications run better as well.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat OS

Pros: Windows 7 is the best Operating System Microsoft has made. Installed, set up and activated with no problems. This was for my Daughter's 6 year old laptop with vista basic on it. It really perked up the old laptop and made it run much better.

Cons: I can't find one.
