1 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 Pro Upgrade Nightmare

Pros: Nothing ... absolutely NOTHING positive to say about this upgrade! I want my old XP system back. Trouble is, once you load 7, MS won't let you load an older version of the OS!! This STINKS!!!!

Cons: This is the absolute worst ... I repeat ... ABSOLUTE WORST piece of upgrade software I have EVER utilized!! And I've been doing this stuff since the 70's. Nothing ... NOTHING works smoothly. And this despite following the MS guidance to the letter. I want my old XP OS back. Trouble is, once you load 7, MS won't let you re-load an older version of the OS!! This STINKS!!!!

Other Thoughts: If you bought this, don't open the package. Send it back to Newegg STAT for a full refund. In my opinion, Newegg should pull this from the shelves!

5 out of 5 eggs1337 is incomplete without 7

Pros: *Works, not a wannabe smartphone/pad OS

Cons: *XP mode leaves more to be desired, however, there are two great alternatives available, one which works fabulously.
* MS nuked retail supply to resellers Oct 31st, 2013 :(

Other Thoughts: Price leaves more to be desired, but considering the new nonsense being pushed in our faces, its well worth it now. I've never had a single licensing issue with any retail upgrade, always worked like a champ.

Not much needed to be said about Win7, if your buying, you know :D

Picked up three retail Ultimate upgrades (apparently last 3 of 4 Newegg had, on a GOOD sale price), 6 of these Pro upgrades, along with parts for 9 fresh Haswell builds to update my business PCs, in due of WinXP's support cutoff of April 2014.

Once its gone, its gone. Get you a copy or two now before they poof!

MS seems to go on a hit and miss tick-tock spree. 98 was great, XP, and Win7. A little part inside me dies when I even think of the stuff between those. Perhaps 9 will be the next bee's knees (or whatever crazy new naming scheme MS coins for the next version of Windows LOL)

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It works ----- now!

Newegg: 5 eggs!
Excellent, as usual. All items received on time in well packed box. Good job, shipping department!

Cons: Win 7 64 bit RAID drivers are defective! Furthermore, Windows update fails to offer or inform us that updated drivers for “Nvidia Nforce” 5, 6, and 7 series chipset are available.
Shame on you, Microsoft!
After Windows initiates and formats the “Raided” drive, the drive acts normal until restart or shut down. After restart, the bios raid indicates degraded raid drives. Bios raid shows two separate degraded drives. (I used Raid 1 – Mirror. Perfect for preventing critical data loss) Of course, one may think that a drive has failed, but that is not the case. Obviously, after many late nights I determined that Windows was causing them problem. One can only wonder how many other driver and/or updates we are missing.

Other Thoughts: Yes! This is an older quad core on an Asus supreme board, but I did a “Clean install” with the Win 7 upgrade. (No old drivers on disc) Besides, Win 7 is different than XP, so XP drivers should have been replaced. They claim “Windows Update”, but in reality, it’s not! I can get similar headaches by using Linux based software, but you get what you pay for. (Zero $)
I am building this computer for someone that, unfortunately, makes blondes look good. Yes, he is the one that customer service puts on hold because he is 6 steps behind where they told him to go. (I pity those people) He can use a computer, but gets lost if it is too technical. I depend upon Microsoft to update properly, so I don’t to fix the computer every day.

1 out of 5 eggsWill not Authenticated

Pros: Typical Microsoft

Cons: On install, invalid product key notice was received. Skipped that to finish install. Went online to authenticate, failure notice said that this key was for an upgrade to existing software and did not cover a clean install. The clean install is talked about on the box and was an option in the install process. Hate to call MS to get this resolved but may be the only option.

5 out of 5 eggsA Good MS OS

Pros: It's nice to see MS put out a good OS; it's been a while since XP SP2.

Cons: Compatibility with older programs leaves something to be desired in some circumstances.

5 out of 5 eggsperfect!

Pros: what can I say? Win7 Pro...perfect. I did a clean install on a dell optiplex 755 which had Vista Biz on it. Luckily, it was completely infected and hosed. I popped the Win7 CD in there, booted up to it, did a clean install as I didn't need anything from before, installed in 12 minutes, SP1 took almost 30 minutes to install, also installed IE9 and all updates...all in under an hour. Anyone remember how a Windows 2000 install would take half a day?

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: came with 32 and 64 bit bit dvd's in box.
