Good, but there's a catch
- Pros: Upgrade version is significantly cheaper than full retail version. Some users of Vista may not notice all the changes, but it really is a better OS in nearly every way. Upgrade can be used to do an in-place upgrade of systems currently running Vista. Upgrade works for Win XP users, too, but there's a big "gotcha."
- Cons: Some users of Vista may not notice all the changes. There isn't much to differentiate it from Vista for many casual users. Not as versatile as the full retail version.
- Other Thoughts: Upgrade can be used by Win XP users, but it requires a clean install, asks to insert old XP disc during install to verify you have a legit copy of XP before proceeding with installation. You should really do a backup before upgrading anyway, but this forces your hand and adds a few extra steps (and a lot of time) to the process. If you want to do an install on a machine that doesn't have XP or Vista already installed, apparently you have to install one of the older OS's first and then install Win 7 Upgrade.
To upgrade Win XP you'll have to do a backup of your system before wiping your old XP installation if you want to save your stuff. Importing an XP backup into Vista or Win 7 requires you to download a special backup restoration app from MS that can read backups created by Win XP.
good job windows
- Pros: I had no problems upgrading my version of Windows 7 to the Windows 7 Ultimate. I turned on my brand new laptop, and from there it was a breeze to get to the new Ultimate. It is really just like an upgraded Vista, which I never had problems with to begin with. Everything seems to be compatible with the new Windows 7 so far. Overall, a good product with no problems.
- Cons: I have yet to find anything that would qualify as a con for this product.

It May Get Better Than This, but Who Cares?
- Pros: Windows 7 Ultimate is rock solid and I love it. Only way I can think of to improve it is build in an Extra Sensory Perception interface. As it is, it's just about like 'if you can think it, you can do it'.
- Cons: Price is too low.
- Other Thoughts: Way to go Bill.
Love windows 7.
- Pros: Its the operating system that vista should of been.
- Cons: none.
- Other Thoughts: It came on time and installed on my system with ease. A great upgrade from XP 64bit.
upgrade
- Pros: Less freezing screen
- Cons: Did not upgrade windows ultimate corrupted in middle of install had to do clean install. Make sure you have full backup od files before attempting to upgrade or do clean install. Not all software hardware are compatible.
Some virus software is not compatible was freezing computer had to remove it.
- Other Thoughts: Microsoft tech support took the easy way out did not want to be bothered to try and get it to upgrade so I did not lose files :(
