It was a simply process to undertake. Enter the code and five minutes later, you have Windows 7 Pro. I've wanted to upgrade my desktop to professional so I would have more ram in ever slot. I believe this will allow 128GB if you want to have everything. but I'm loaded at 10GB. and I know that any x86 OS you use you're capped at 4 GB of RAM!! Cons: LOT OF UPDATES!!! I tried three separate proposed solutions found online but NONE worked. I am seriously going to look at Apple when thinking about a new PC or system. 1wanderingolfer 11/20/2011 8:55:09 AM Tech Level: 4/5 Ownership: 5/5	Rating: 5/5Differences between Home and Pro Pros: There is one HUGE difference between Windows 7 Home Premium and Professional. The same difference as there was between XP Home Edition,and the Professional and Media Center editions. XP Home is built on a different kernal than Pro or M/C. While all versions of Windows 7 are built on the same kernal, there is still the inherent difference in one aspect. Microsoft, in it's infinite wisdom, likes to set aside 20 percent of your available ISP's download speed for some future unknown use. You are unable to get around that if you own either XP Home or 7 Home Premium. However, with XP M/C or Professional, or Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate, you CAN unlock that other 20 percent. Start task manager, new task and type in GPEDIT.MSC. Navigate to Administrative Templates, Network, and highlight Qos Packet Scheduler. Right click Limit reservable Bandwith and click on Edit. Cons: Its Microsoft :) Other Thoughts: This upgrade is quick and adds the networking functionality I needed on my wifes PC so that it can interact with my server features. If you do not need this for the networking features, keep your Home version. This will not improve anything, becuase they are the same operating system. 4 out of 9 people found this review helpful.
