5 out of 5 eggsEasy to install.

Pros: Easy to install and update.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I was a bit leery since it said you needed the OEM tool to make it legal but i have had no problems with it. Installs and updates as it should. Big relief. I first used win 7 64 bit on a previous build, since i had to switch over from xp to 7. 64 bit was a real hassle, so i was nervous about this too. But it installed and updated without any trouble at all. Worked like it's supposed to work.

4 out of 5 eggsMicrosoft Windows 7

Pros: We will have to abandon Win XP very soon.. and Win Vista soon after that. Only choice is Win 7 or Win 8.

Cons: Too much 'glitz and glop' with features that most users have no need of! And where is the category for the "pro" user? No choice as to certain settings or permissions?
Perhaps Linux is more user-friendly.

5 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 32 Bit

Pros: Easy to install and customize to your own liking. Learning curve very fast. Not all that much different than XP, in my opinion, except for the "Libraries" feature. After customization for performance, I think it runs a little faster and smoother than XP.

Cons: Can't really think of anything major, but I doubt that I would have upgraded if it wasn't for the fact that XP officially will not be supported by Microsoft security updates after April 8, 2014.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat OS

Pros: Positives:
1- Not WIndows 8/8.1
2- Great User Interface
3- Not a RAM hog
4- Finds most 3rd party drivers automatically
5- No additional software needed to play DVD movies
6- There is a way to enable PAE (physical address extension) and modify kernel to *use* as much RAM as 64 bit OS within your motherboard limits)

Cons: Negatives:
1- PAE/kernel mods should be installed as defaults
2- Eventually Microsoft support will end leaving us with a smart phone UI or my option LInux (Ubuntu)

Other Thoughts: Yes, it is possible to recognize/use as much RAM as your motherboard will handle. I have 5 gigs of usable RAM on my pc with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit OS. There is an article on Microsoft site that gives you all the info (PAE.) Normally on 32 bit OS you are limited to *3.25* gigs of usable RAM, but with PAE/kernel mods it eliminates the RAM limit/usage. my pc specs:

AMD FX-4100 AM3+ quadcore oced to 4.25GHz per core (Microsoft hot fixes: KB2646060 & KB2645594 installed so Windows 7 can utilize Bulldozer architecture)
RocketFish RF-UC PUCF hi-perf CPU fan/copper based heatsink w/2 copper cooling pipes w/thin coat of Artic Silver5
MSI 760GM-P21 (FX) AM3+ motherboard
Crucial DDR3 PC3-10600/1333MHz RAM: (5 gigs) 1x4 gig module + 1x1 gig module: oced to 1533MHz
GIgabyte AMD/Radeon HD 7850 GV-R7850OC-1GD R 1gig DDR5 256 bit PCI-E 3.0 graphics card
LG DVD Drive GH24NSBOB (SATA)
Western Digital WD2500AAKX 250 GB SATA lll hard drive
Rosewill RG630-S12 630 watt psu (single +12 rail @ 50A)
Antec TriCool 92mm DBB 3 speed case fan
Antec Cyclone Blower PCI Slot fan speed controlled via Zalman Fanmate 2
Logitech K400 wireless keyboard w/built in mouse
Windows 7 Home Premimum SP1 *32 bit OEM (yes, there is a way to remove RAM limitation usage)
Monitor: 60Hz 32" LED 1080p tv connected via Acoustic Research Pro Series II HDMI cable
CyberPower 685AVR UPS w/battery backup
Apex mid tower case w/side CPU fan vent/funnel & psu top mount

1 out of 5 eggsMicrosoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 32-bit

Pros: Its an OS that works

Cons: Its a 32 bit system

Other Thoughts: NEVER buy the 32bit, if you upgrade your computers memory or go too high into the better gaming PC area you will have to purchase ANOTHER copy of windows JUST to get the 64bit system. No upgrade options available and no one will take the 32bit version.

1 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 Installation Disc

Pros: New Egg is an excellent supplier and this is the first time in the past 10 years of being a customer I've had an issue with any of my purchases.

Cons: Windows 7 disc would not install. Tried several new hard drives to no avail. It would start to load and then 'blue' screen. Ran preinstall Win 7 Microsoft software and everything from than standpoint was OK.

Cannot return because I had to open the package to try it. .

Other Thoughts: I've got Win 7 on another computer and it is an excellent operating system.
