5 out of 5 eggsWIN7

Pros: Solid OS, sure WIN8 has faster boot times but you don't get all the switching back to the desktop you get with WIN8 (yes, even in WIN7 compatibility modes certain key combos and mouse movements will revert you violently to the desktop in Windows 8)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Windows 8 might be in its infancy as of yet, howeverm, there are too many annoying features like having your game dump you unceremoniously to the desktop in the middle of a Multiplayer FPS/3rd Person Shooter... Not fun, because you're usually dead when you switch back.

Windows 8 has an amazingly enhanced Kernel, yes it boots faster and seems to be more efficient. Not to mention it's threading ability is better (especially for people with Bulldozer/Piledriver) FMA 4 insturctions have better support.

I think I can live with a 30 second boot time for ultimate stability in games and all applications and I still manage to retain my Start Button. When WIN8 allows you to mod off the tile screen, I will switch over. Because if your're a power user and you're running apps on monitors (multiple) above 40", the tile/touchscreen feature is pointless.

That's just me, but the tile set is cool in WIN8 too. Makes me want to have a 61" touchscreen just to play with it... Until them WIN7

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best

Pros: Very sleek. Comfortable. Responsive. Nice design

Cons: Short battery life but I do use it a lot. Wireless works with no problem but wired seems to stiffen the flow of the mouse.

Other Thoughts: Was on sale no too long ago for 70-80 dollars. Now it's back up to retail price.

Pros: Brainless Install
Most any driver you can think of is on the disc.
3 pack is cool when it goes on sale

Cons: Shut down can get long after some months of operation, still haven't isolated the issue.

Other Thoughts: Dear Gogu (below) Your failure to investigate, and determine if the NEWEST MS Operating system would work with your old hardware and software is not a problem with the OS.

Would you buy a new car and run kerosene in it? Early Fords could run on it; why not a new Beemer....

5 out of 5 eggsWait for a sale

Pros: Microsoft's best operating system to date, in a 3 pack. Detailed reviews can be found on the single unit product pages, but I felt the need to point out that these triple packs do occasionally go on sale and are worth watching. $85 a copy is a good deal.

Cons: When these aren't on sale, they're no cheaper to buy per unit than the singles, which makes no sense to me.

Other Thoughts: It's 3 oem copies of windows in a box that is usually priced to defeat the purpose of purchasing in bulk. This aside, it's every bit as great as the single pack operating system, just more of it.

5 out of 5 eggsSystem Builders

Pros: Cost
Ease of Use
Quality

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: If you shop what you know and review accordingly you will realize this is one of the best deals on Windows 7 software available to small system builders. Those who do not do high quantities would be hard pressed to find a better deal anywhere else.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Windows 7 offers many new features, as well as a elegant new look and feel. Works great on even an 8 year old Dell.

Cons: Can't think of any.

Other Thoughts: Make sure that you purchase the correct version of the OS for your computer. Had to install the 32 bit version on the Dell, but my newer 64 bit systems run great with this.

1 out of 5 eggsmicrosoft garbage as usual

Pros: it seems to load a bit faster than XP

Cons: not fully tested before release
incompatible with most previous hardware and software
networking with 32 bit XP mashines impossible
overpriced

Other Thoughts: bought it before SP1 was released. Now any attempt to install SP1 fails because "third party software". Microsoft recommendation: reinstall OS!!! None of my printers, scaner, web cam worked. 80% of my software incompatible as well. Cannot make it work in a network with other machines running XP. I uninstallled and returned to XP. Waste of time and money.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent OS with right price for builders

Pros: It's stable, fast, easy to use, most folks like it, unlike Vista :-)
Also price for 3 is less than if purchased individ.

Cons: Well it may seem like expensive, but with all that support and people working behind it, oh well...

Other Thoughts: I usually get 3-pack instead of singles, it also comes with DIY win7 disc, but it will take time to learn how to use it.
