Pinnacle Studio 16 Ultimate

Pros: It works with Windows 7 and has all the bells and whistles with a nice look...

Cons: Nice looks don't keep it running, it constantly crash's right in the middle of a project... my version 10 worked soooooooooooooo much better but won't work on 7 so weigh it out... stick with XP and a good version or go with 7 and hope it don't crash.

Other Thoughts: I probably should have went with the basic setup of studio instead of the ultimate... I don't need all these bells & whistles for typical editing... *shrugs* whatta gonna do.

Pros: This is really Avid Studio 2.0. It is immensely more capable and somewhat more complex then the old style Pinnacle Studio Editors, but once you get used to a few of the tools, I find it a better, faster smoother, editor than any of the PS's that came before.

Cons: If you only used PStudio basic and only used one or two tracks then the extra capability in this version may set you back at first. Watch the free Class on Demand tutorial that comes with it and you'll be off and running

Other Thoughts: I used Adobe Premier and Avid Liquid for years. then went to Avid Studio. I was very concerned when pinnacle was purchased by Corel that Avid Studio would hit a dead end.PS16 solved that concern. if you have only used PS 14 and below, the library is a little daunting because it gives you tools to handle thousands of files and sort and search many ways to keep track of them. The Class on Demand Tutorials are very good. Watch them. Play around a bit then if you have the dough spring for the full COD set. I have now put out dozens of projects with this software (including Avid Studio 1.1)and I have never been more productive than with this. All the capability you need with enough keyboard shortcuts to make things move along really well. You can stay on the surface and do a track or two and apply transitions to all clips at once or you can open the effects editor and stack many effects on top of each other without leaving a common interface.
The forum is quite helpful also. I just wish they had a Cyberlink type user library for sharing among users.

Pros: The product works great. It is Avid Studio V2 renamed to PS16 because Pinnacle is now owned by Corel, not Avid. Those familiar with Avid Studio will find the transition real easy. There are new features that might make it worth the upgrade. I like them and they are too numerous to mention here. Oh, and if you have any plugins what worked with Avid Studio, they will work just fine in PS16.

Cons: Stay away from the basic version. Plus or Ultimate versions are the only ones worth considering.

Other Thoughts: To the "nameless" poster that was crying about how bad the software is probably doesn't know how to use it. Crying about how it's not like Studio, blah blah blah. Clueless. Totally clueless. This program is NOT and update of Studio15, but an update of Avid Studio. The legacy Studio line is gone now. Pinnacle is owned by Corel, who has their own VideoStudioPro software that competed with Studio. People should do their research before jumping on something they know nothing about. PS16 is a great program with a pretty extensive feature set. It is not for the once in a while family video maker. But if you want to do more, this is a program that will allow you to grow.

Pros: Easy to learn/use
Lots of options/plugins available
great for the slightly above average media creator

Cons: takes time to render certain effects

Other Thoughts: best cheap video editing software for windows

Pros: Very user friendly, if you used editing before

Cons: NO PRINTED MANUAL, I see that as a pain and costing 1 star

Other Thoughts: V16 is totally different from V14 or V15 and other PS that I have used for years. But it is worth the effort to become familiar with it.

I have used you products for 10 years and I tried the Studio 16 Trial and you have changed everything about the product. The interface dose not look the same it started inventoring my media files without asking and I for sure did not want it to do this. I could not get it to act and do like studio 15 that i have and actually i have bought all of them in the past 10 years. but you guys lost a customer with this product. Very very disappointed in this.
