Setting out to do for co-op gaming what Counter-Strike did for team combat, Left 4 Dead is an ambitious, independently-produced survival horror game from Turtle Rock Studios, the co-developers of Counter-Strike Source. Running on the Source engine, Left 4 Dead leaves four armed survivors of a world overrun with zombies, and they must fight their way out to escape the outbreak. Designed for co-op play, the four players must work together to finish each stage of the game, lending each other artillery support, sharing ammo and rescuing each other when zombies are on top of them. In addition to the standard four players as humans, another four players can be amongst the masses of assaulting zombies, seeking to take down the other players. Zombie players might even find themselves become one of the four mutant "boss" zombies, who have unique powers that can be used to devastate, injure, tie up, mark and track, confuse, or even humiliate the gun-toting human survivors.

Multiplayer/Co-op Bliss !!
- Pros: If you havent played the demo of this game before it came out GO BUY THIS GAME!! if you did pre-play the demo theres no doubt you did buy it. Ive played online co/op games for a long time. And never have i enjoyed myself as much as i do in this incredibly crafted gem. Graphics * wonderful . Replay value* top notch. Mood and atmosphere * perfect. * game Challenge* its tough even on normal setting. AI director* makes games wonderfully diffrent each time. Map choices* 5 campaigns , 5 maps per campaign = more great re-play value.
- Cons: I know nothings perfect but.... this just dosent have weak spots.
- Other Thoughts: Ok so here's the straight scoop. Anyone who cry's about sources old? engine not producing stellar graphics is a tool!!
Did Crysis have better graphics? yep! Did Crysis's game play out do Left 4 dead? not even a contest. Left 4 deads graphics are more then acceptable and they run perfectly on most computers. No lag , no slowdown nothing. Gameplay is the main culpert to a lackluster game and this isnt the case with this online masterpiece. Graphics are nice but gameplay is king. again the graphics are top notch anyway. Plus the new!! AI director keeps everything in check. Having an easy time of killing zombies? ok well the AI is going to throw alot more on you or cut them back depending on your skill level. Mood needs to be turned up? no problem AI director will turn up the rain and lightning and thunder. Also the lighting effects are tuned tword your current playing mood. The game never runs out of OH SH**! full version is harder then demo too. BUY IT!! Love it !! CIao.
Amazing Game
- Pros: Amazingly fun game. This game is going to be a classic game like TF2 and Counter Strike. Nothing beats killing Zombies. This game probably has one of the best co-op system in the world. The graphics are amazing considering it is running on the source engine. (very old compared to something like the CryEngine2)
- Cons: The single player campaign is very short. This is really a multiplayer game, you are going to be spending most of your time killing zombies with friends.
- Other Thoughts: If you haven't bought this game buy it now!
I was very excited to buy this game and preordered it a month in advance. I was however really disappointed that it took newegg 3 days after the release day to ship it. I thought preorders usually meant you get the game the day its released.

Best Zombie game I've ever played
- Pros: Multiple modes in both single player and multiplayer give lots of play options and the ability to practice offline. The AI isn't as good as other players (exceptions noted), but it's good enough to make the game fun for several hours of gameplay. 4 difficulty settings ensure that there is a "fun, but challenging" setting for single player and multiplayer campaign modes.
- Cons: Lack of promised downloadable modules from the maker, Valve. At the time of this writing, there have only been two modules added - the first included a single end-level stage for survial mode only and the second was a mini-campaign.
- Other Thoughts: Warning: This is an addictive game so beware!
If you liked the movie Zombieland, you'll most likely enjoy this game as well.
An amazing co-op game
- Pros: - Graphics are pretty good for the source engine
- Co-op play is sweet, provides hours of fun, especially at LAN parties
- I can't get over Versus mode. It's so fun to play as the Infected.
- The AI Director is real. You get a difference experience every time you play.
- Cons: - Single player is nowhere near as fun as multiplayer
- Only four campaigns
- Campaigns are somewhat short...you could play every campaign all the way through in about 3 hours
- Other Thoughts: You can download other campaigns created by people, so just Google "left 4 dead campaigns" and you should find some good campaigns if you get tired of the default ones. But overall, even though I only gave the game four stars, it is simply amazing. Co-op and versus give you endless hours of fun. Buy if don't have it!
Left 4 Dead
- Pros: haha. this game is so sick. gameplay is awesome, offers great gameplay that is available on less-than-perfect gaming systems. i've been playing the game for about a year now, and im still loving it. so much so, that even when 2 is out (which i've preordered), i will almost definitely still be playing this periodically.
- Cons: hands look kinda weird, but the textures are great. people rage quit when you own them in versus.
- Other Thoughts: averaging about 70-80 fps on a stock clocked hd 4650 with a phenom II x2 550.
