Features

Features
Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is the sequel to the game that put class-based, multiplayer team warfare on the map. A long time coming, TF2 was first announced in 1998, but in the years that followed went through various concept and design changes, which left it looking less and less like the beloved original release. Luckily by the time the final version came off the presses and was bundled as part of EA's 2007 release, The Orange Box, it had returned to something very close to the original game.

Gameplay
Built around multiplayer battles of two teams, Reliable Excavation Demolition (RED) and Builders League United (BLU), representing competing construction teams, players choose between two game modes: capture the flag (CTF) and a control point mode. In CTF the objective is to obtain a briefcase of intelligence from the enemy team's base and return it to their own base while preventing the opposing team from doing the same. In the control point mode the objective is similar, only related to holding particular territories. To be successful in either the most important thing is to understand and use each character class in the best way possible.

A Game That's a Class Operation
Unlike other "class-based" games that offer a variety of combat classes only, Team Fortress 2 features a wide variety of classes which provide a broad range of tactical abilities and personalities, and lend themselves to a variety of player skills. All nine playable character classes from the original game are available and although a few of these, like the Medic and Heavy generally work well with any mix of characters, overall each have particular strengths in offensive, defensive and support capacities. Each also will respond dynamically with different comical dialogue when in combat.

Other Thoughts: Uh hmm let me think... HATS!

5 out of 5 eggsIt's free on steam :P

Pros: First off, I'd like to say, good job Valve. I've enjoyed this game for months, and it is easy to pick up. With 9 classes to choose from, ranging from a flame-throwing pyro to a headshotting sniper, it suits the needs of any kind of player. It also has a cartoon style of graphics, which I like.

Cons: It doesn't cook your breakfast and has a terrible store where items are overpriced

Other Thoughts: Don't pay $10 on newegg for this, go on Steam and play for free!

2 out of 5 eggsOverhyped

Pros: + Awesome art style throughout
+ Unique and innovative character design
+ Fun, well designed maps

Cons: - Ho hum gameplay... I thought it would be a little more tactical. Turns out its just Quake with specific roles.
- Very difficult to advance for new players, because established players have great gear and you get crushed.
- Steam sucks, and I won't be buying any other titles that require it. It's glorified adware.

Other Thoughts: I've heard a lot of raving about this game, but I found it to be completely mediocre aside from the visuals. I am disappoint.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best multiplayer FPS's.

Pros: Very fun game with great replay value.

The game is really easy to pick up, yet has a great amount of depth to it.

Fairly low price considering the updates to the classes and new official maps released for free and free fan created maps and mods.

Runs well on a lot of different hardware. Source engine is very well designed.

Cons: Not really a con but, I'd like to see the rest of the classes that don't have unlockable stuff updated so they do.
I'm pretty sure eventually the rest will and that the devs are working on it.

5 out of 5 eggsBest game I've ever owned.

Pros: Never gets old.
Free content (maps, weapons, ect.) released every few months.
Never gets old, I've played pretty much every day for over a year.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: If your computer can handle it (doesn't take much) you will love it.
