Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

Pros: - class based gameplay in varied asymetrical mission based maps
- several dozen hours of gameplay to finally somewhat know how to use each class decently (almost a different game game per class)
- pretty fun
- decent looking for its age
- very affordable!

Cons: - could have used more maps :)
- could have used a proper solo campaign for each class/specy (would have given it an even longer lifespan)
- bots could have been better balanced (on easy they suck, on medium it gets weirdly tough)

Other Thoughts: Of course graphics arent crysis-like but it remains VERY acceptable. The gameplay really makes up for it !!

Pros: Combines a toned-down version of the "jump around and avoid fire" combat mechanics of Quake with tactical play. Many different classes and vehicles and asymmetrical teams keep things interesting. Whenever I started getting bored of this game I would find some cool new trick that a certain class could do. For example, a Strogg medic skilled at close-quarters combat can easily single-handedly hold an area of high importance such as a forward spawn point.

Linux compatibility is always a major plus.

Cons: It did get boring eventually. But that was after literal several hundred hours of play.

Pros: - Dirt Cheap
- Good enough graphics
- Cool alien vehicles (one step behind Unreal Tournament 3 vehicles)
- Nice maps

Cons: - The guns are boring
- Bunny-hopping is an ideal method of fighting
- Objectives are not clear (much more confusing than BF2)
- HUD/game layout is clunky

Other Thoughts: The game is dirt cheap. I have played it here and there but couldn't really get into it. It was probably cool when it came out, but by today's standard it's not very good. This kind of thing has been done in Unreal Tournament, Battlefield 2, and other games.

For gamers that have yet to play many similar games (i.e. UT, BF) then they may find this fun.

If you can't decide whether or not you want it, just buy it because it's dirt cheap. If it were more expensive, I would say no, but I am not mad that I bought for so cheap would neither will most other people probably.

Pros: Awesome. Takes team work to succeed. Pretty well balanced between strogg and humans.

Still lots of servers out there! Come play on the BBA server.

Cons: The graphics are a bit lacking. Oh well. After awhile the eye candy doesn't do anything to add to the game. Is all about the frags.

Other Thoughts: This really is a great game.
I've been playing for about 2 years. And still play daily.

Give it a bit of time. It took me awhile to get the hang of it. Coming from a Quake gaming background and not ET was part of the problem. 8 bucks! give it a go!

Pros: fun! lots of cheap kills 20 min game tough best play co-op enemy bots see ya comming and got your # got to get everything just right to make objectives I can tell the reviews from sore loosers that cant figure the game out

Cons: splash damage made map making about non exsistant with all that announcer crapola [should have done it like quake 3 i guess ] get in there and hack the slipgate and kill the human food

Other Thoughts: when i brake keyboards and mice on a game its a good one

Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Graphics are below average, control over character lacks precision in a fast and busy environment. There's way too much complexity regarding navpoints, missions and other on-screen cues. Overall a sloppy game with no real appeal - played for 15 minutes and was bored out of my mind.

Other Thoughts: This was a waste of money.

Pros: One of the best team-based multiplayer FPS games ever. An absolute steal at this price. Fairly decent graphics, if that's your thing. Name your pleasure, this game has it. Like vehicles? Heavy and light, flying and even amphibious, QW has what you need.

More into infantry combat? Tired of mindless fragging, chasing flags and just trying to find the battle? Every map has multiple objectives that must be completed or defended, concentrating the action at these points of contention. And almost every map has one or more objectives that are indoor and inaccessible to vehicles, requiring you to face the enemy in close quarters combat.

ET:QW features asymmetrical gameplay in that the two warring armies are not an identical, mirror image of each other. The vehicles, classes and abilities are different between the two and have real advantages the other team does not have. Providing dozens of different ways to experience the game. Yet, the overall gameplay has been carefully balanced.

Cons: Graphics aren't mind blowing, state of the art. If that's your thing. But they look pretty enough on a decent machine. And you will see some awesome effects. It's something to see the world warp as you are enveloped (roasted) by your first orbital strike.

Official ranking system has left the modding and custom map community DOA. Sadly, this just seems to be the future of online gaming. Thankfully, the official 12 maps are done well enough to keep me coming back.

A bit of a learning curve may be a turn off to those afflicted with ADD.

Other Thoughts: Enemy Territory: Quake Wars is one of the greatest, overlooked games in recent memory. Despite Splash Damage's excellent efforts to build a multiplayer FPS game from the ground up based on providing a true team-based experience, due to lack of support from it's publisher and a common misconception that this is Battlefield with new skins, this game has been largely ignored.

I'm happy there are still hundreds of people playing. But I think it's a shame it's not thousands. A game like this deserves recognition. Lest we be stuck with the same old recycled garbage.

Pros: Stable (download v1.5 patch to get latest features), built-in voice comm, LAN or Internet multi-user, can run your own server (LAN or Internet), Intelligent bots (play against computer or human players). All for an unbelievable price. Not since Unreal 2004 has there been a multi-user game this good.

Cons: Not enough maps and campaigns yet.

Other Thoughts: If you like objective, cooperative, military squad based shooters, this game is for you.

Pros: Fun Multiplayer, Great Classes, Huge Maps, Cool Weapons

Cons: Not that many weapons, maps or weapons.

Other Thoughts: It is a great game, it is lots of fun and runs on some older systems.

Pros: Great game, especially the online play. Can't beat a price of less than $10.

Cons: none
