It's the closing days of WWII with American forces moving closer to the Japanese homeland in the Pacific while the Soviet Red Army prepares to enter the German capitol of Berlin. Even though the tide has turned, the enemy is not about to give up. Capitalizing on the Call of Duty 4 game engine, enemies are smart and deadly. Smarter bullet physics means that your shots – and theirs – won't stop dead at a wall, but will continue through based on caliber and range. Dynamic lighting and shadow effects add suspense to the uncensored combat experience as enemy troops lie in ambush.

Pick up fallen weapons and wield new ones – including the lethal flamethrower and tanks make their return to lay down serious firepower. Destructible - and flammable - targets and environments add extra dimension to combat in the open ended story mode. Build up your soldier using the perk and level systems. Split-screen cooperative play lets you have someone watch your back as you fight your ways through the jungles of Peleliu or the hellish ruins of a once-proud Berlin.

Six online multi-player modes including deathmatch, capture the flag and more with a new squad mechanic allowing you to respawn near team members and stay with the same group between matches. A multi-player zombie mode has you and your comrades holding off unending waves of Nazi undead. In the World at War, you don't fight alone.

New Enemies, Environments and Tactics: Face off against ruthless and tactically advanced enemies that will stop at nothing to defend their homelands, from swamp ambushes and tree-top snipers to fearless Kamikaze attacks. Play as a U.S. Marine and Russian conscript across a variety of Pacific and European locations against the fearless Imperial Japanese and elite German soldiers in epic adrenaline-filled infantry, vehicle and airborne missions.

Co-Op Campaign Mode, Call of Duty Style: For the first time in the franchise, Call of Duty: World at War introduces co-op play, bringing fresh meaning to “No One Fights Alone”. Campaign co-op features up to four-players online, or two-player local split-screen, allowing gamers to experience harrowing campaign missions together for greater camaraderie and tactical execution. Co-op mode incorporates innovative multiplayer components such as challenges, rankings and online stats for deeper re-playability and multiplayer experience bonuses. Co-op mode also features Competitive Co-Op that will show who is really the best player on your team.

Enhanced Multiplayer: Call of Duty: World at War continues the class-based multiplayer action the series is famous for. The addition of vehicle combat with tanks rounds out the multiplayer experience, and features such as persistent stats, player rankings, upgradeable weapons, squad-based gameplay, customizable classes and Perks, have been further enhanced.

The Call of Duty Experience: Call of Duty: World at War utilizes cutting-edge technology including highly-detailed character models, self-shadowing, environmental lighting and amazing special effects to deliver jaw-dropping visuals. Depth of field, rim-lighting and texture-streaming technology bring the adrenaline-pumping combat to life, while physics-enabled battlefields and fire that spreads through environments realistically immerses players into the harrowing and dynamic combat.

5 out of 5 eggs2ed review

Pros: don't require steam or any 3ed party involvement
don't require internet connection to activate or load and play
you own the full game on the disk not a disk that requires you to go to a 3ed party like steam to beg there permission to load and play and be forced to accept there downloads weather you want them or not in order to keep playing the game ..

Cons: newegg shipped this with mail innovations .. took near 2 weeks to arrive here .. should have it where we can decline these shipping services ..

Other Thoughts: rebought this game due to my buddy lost the first one ..and this is a non steam type copy --- found since my last review the game play is way better on this Intel build then it ever was on the AMD build [big difference] and was more enjoyable this time around... extra zombie maps for download at file shack you can load and run your own server with windows or Linux to have lan partys or invite/ban your players abroad with out going through steam [your in control of your game not something like steam]

5 out of 5 eggsNazee Zombies!!!!

Pros: I. Love. This. Game.

Been playing for a long time.

Multiplayer games are awesome, and Zombie mode is something I NEVER get tired of.

For the PC version, there are so many custom maps and mods for regular mode and zombie mode it's mind-boggling.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Install;
Run patches, which are easy to find!
Go find custom maps and mods
Play till ya can't play no more.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Game

Pros: Great game with lots maps and different modes of gameplay, from capture flag to zombie mode what's not to like.Maps are nicely detailed and large enough to have tanks which are a major plus.Large battles with lots players with dog's, artillery, and even flame throwers!

Cons: The spawn system leaves something to be desired but that hows something more to do with too many players for size of map.Need a good PC so make sure computer is up to date.

Other Thoughts: Great game and money well spent with many hours of game play, but make sure ya got a good connection to internet and a computer to run it and your good to go.

4 out of 5 eggsCall of Duty: World at War

Pros: Overall I must say this is a great game. Graphics are good, multiplayer is good, "N" Zombies are great, but campaign really needs some work.
Multiplayer is great, vast arsenal of weapons, mines, explosives. You get rewarded for killstreaks, and there are countless amounts of games to choose from.
"N" Zombies are very fun, especially for the invidual who likes gore, blood...I'm not going to go into it right now, but "N" Zombies is still very good.
Campaign...needs work. Gets very boring, and is practically impossible on verteran difficulty. Enemy combatants have a 100% accuracy. Missions get old.

Cons: I'm subtracting an egg due to the boring campaign. "N" Zombies are really fun, don't get me wrong, but first you need to complete the campaign...which as you can probably tell from the other commentators is boring. Second, you need to buy map-packs, it would have much more, "fun" unlocking them. And if you really are just buying COD WaW for the "N" Zombies, you are better off getting Left for Dead 1/2.

Other Thoughts: Very good game, has a few flaws, but makes up for it on "N" Zombies and online. Highly recommend for the average FPS gamer. I would recommned this to a friend. :)
*Can say the word so, hope you know what, "N" stands for.

1 out of 5 eggsthe war is over ''thank G od''

Pros: made it to end of game to help feel like i got my moneys worth [not], jonney tech wanted to try it mail ran next day ... gone!!

Cons: payed $2.50 to mail it so he could see what a joke it is. seems like cod mw was the last one worth paying for .now it seems there just doing the money grab with these newer ones

Other Thoughts: looks like pc gaming is just an afterthought and a money grab nowadays with the accounts, drm, online connections, access to your computer for snooping, i can go on and on but as long as you pay and check I AGREE thats the way its going to be also g od is an inappropriate word on this web site but hell is not??

5 out of 5 eggsGood game - OEM came free with EVGA video card

Pros: Fun game to play - good grahpics -

Cons: Single player is fun - but it gets repetitive after you played through a few times. Then ya go online - and it's a whole new game.

Kindof pricey fo

Other Thoughts: OEM version Came free with my 9800 GTX+ and was first shooter game I played on my PC. I like it - and look forward to getting the more recent COD games as they come out.

4 out of 5 eggsFun multiplayer

Pros: I got this game free with my video card purchase. Multiplayer is a lot of fun. I haven't played much in the way of multiplayer FPS games in a long time, but this game has made me get back into it and enjoy it again. I have MW2 on preorder though and will switch to that as soon as it comes out.

Cons: I only played part of the first single player mission but it didn't impress me. I prefer RPG's for single player games anyway and FPS games for multiplayer. I had to install 4 seperate patches totalling 3.21 GIGS to get the game to where I could play online. It wouldn't have been that bad I knew that I needed 4 seperate patches. I started with patch 1.5 which I thought was the latest patch and an all-inclusive patch, but no. You need the 1.2 - 1.4 patch before 1.5, and the to-1.2 patch before that one. Then after 1.5 you need 1.6! The patches also take a long time to unpack then to install. Took me all night just to get the game to where I could play it.

Other Thoughts: The multiplayer to me is a ton of fun but to someone who plays FPS multiplayer games constantly and has played lots of them, well I can see how it might not seem like it is all that. However, for someone who hasn't played multiplayer FPS games in a while, this game has brought me back into the genre.
