5 out of 5 eggsDOOM III: The Story Continues

Pros: As stated on the front of the box, this is a expansion to the previously released DOOM III and not a true sequel. The Story (The Game) literally picks up right were the first one left off 2 years later. The only difference is this time you are a different Marine exploring the Martian Ruins (The original Marine is only mentioned at the begining Credits as the Sole survivor of the events of DOOM III, more than likely was medically discharged and on permenant VA disability for psychiactric care) and lead this time by ELizabeth McNeil (Read about on her and Swanns PDAs from DOOM III but not actually seen) who directs the Marine through the lost Martian civilization. The only full blown returning character (Other than the Computer Voice) is Dr. Martin Betrugar as seen at the end of DOOM III as a mutated HELL Demon trying to regain access to our universe and conquer Earth. The Game plays just like DOOM III, the only new weapons is a double barreled Shotgun, (contunied in CONS)

Cons: The Grabber: very useful for not having to replinish your ammo on and can recycle your enemies fire balls, and The Hell Stone AKA THe Artificat: replaces the Soul Cube in this game but slightly different use than the Soul Cube (Slows down time). THey took out the Chainsaw (Witch I missed) and the prviouslly mentioned soul cube, Other than that the controls are the same. PARENTS BE ADVISED: This game is not for Younger Kids and contains explict violence, Gore, and offensive religous demonic images (As with the original DOOM III), I personally would not let any child under 16 play or see this game and even for the 17 and older make sure they are mature enough not to get the junk scared out of them.

Other Thoughts: Overall, excellent continuation of the original DOOM III for those who did not want to see the original DOOM III end (Like I did) and will have to hold me over till the end of 2009/begining 2010 when DOOM IV is scheduled for release. PC Specs: P4 478 socket 3.4 ghz 800mhz FSB, INTEL 865PERLK MOBO, 4GB DDR1 RAM PC3200, ATI X1550 (See Last Notes below) Video Card, 300GB IDE HD, Windows Vista SP1. Last NOTES: The Game is a bit of a Video Card resource Hog Even through the game plays and looks good on my current Video Card (the ATI X1550) there was some slight frame freezes durring the more action intense parts of the game and have ordered a ATI HD 3850 card to compensate for the high Video Card demand. Also insure you of the Full Version of the previous Doom III game because the expansion module only has the new scenes on the one CD and not the game engine.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat's left to say?

Pros: It's DOOM! With the exception of a few new weapons, it's more of the same gameplay. (much more)

Cons: It may be the last of the DOOM series. :)
A shame, because I would buy expansion packs for virtually any ID game for as long as they could write 'em.

Other Thoughts: As with Doom3, complaints of "too dark" are prevalent.
If the in-game gamma adjustment doesn't brighten things up enough for ya, try adjusting your video properties before starting the game. I recently acquired an LCD monitor and indeed found the rendering to be too dark for my taste/ability.

4 out of 5 eggsCheck compatibility

Pros: Not sure... Couldn't Play it based on the original should be good.

Cons: Doesn't work with Vista Ultimate 64 bit

Other Thoughts: Should have looked at compatibility before i bought it. Upgraded to a 4870x2 and wanted to go back through some of my old games, played doom 3 and remembered there was an expansion pack. No go on Vista 64 though

5 out of 5 eggsSame but different

Pros: I played Doom3 and finished it months ago, I saw the expantion pack for a real good price. Playing it on Vista on the new XT5300T laptop. Fun game, new levels.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: surprised it didn't load on to Win XP x64 version OS. That's ok.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's a doom 3 expansion

Pros: if you wanted more doom 3, here it is. more weapons, more enemies. more maps.

Cons: install on 64 bit windows is much like the final levels of doom 3 on hardcore difficulty.

Other Thoughts: if your looking for the best fps game on the market. this isn't it.

5 out of 5 eggsReally good buy!

Pros: This game rocks. I don't know what people are talking about this game being more well lit. Best I can tell I am about 1/3 of the way through with the game and it has been every bit as dark and spooky as the first. Maybe it lightens up further into the game. It is a lot like the original Doom III, but if you are like me you did not want that game to end. 5 eggs!

Cons: It won't do my homework for me. Also, so far there hasn't been as many audio logs on PDAs. Maybe I'm kind of morbid but i liked hearing people voicing their thoughts during the desperate situation. Oh well. 5 eggs!

Other Thoughts: every bit as cool as the first (so far) and even more difficult. Id does a great job representing in this follow-up to the follow-up of the influential Doom series. 5 eggs!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Expansion for Doom3

Pros: The new weapons are great. I liked the powerups - the slow motion thing is pretty exciting. There's even a HL2 gravity gun ripoff that makes blasting imps much more fun. I can't stand to let myself play games on Easy, and this game proved a little harder than Doom3, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Cons: Don't buy if you didn't enjoy Doom3 one bit - it's nearly the same gameplay. I also noticed the storyline didn't seem quite as dark as the first - you just go through the sequential boss fights until the end and thats it.

Other Thoughts: If you just finished Doom3 and are starving for more action grab this game.
