In a desperate war for Earth's survival against an unrelenting alien enemy, the only way to defeat them is to become one of them; earth is under siege by the Strogg, a barbaric alien race moving through the universe consuming, recycling and annihilating any civilization in their path. In a desperate attempt to survive, an armada of Earth's finest warriors is sent to take the battle to the Strogg home planet; you are Matthew Kane, an elite member of Rhino Squad and Earth's valiant invasion force. Fight alone, with your squad, or in hover tanks and mechanized walkers as you engage in a heroic mission to the heart of the Strogg war machine;
battle through early missions as a deadly marine, then after your capture, as a marine-turned-Strogg with enhanced abilities and the power to turn the tide of the war.

AWESOME
- Pros: The textures, lighting, and effects are all pretty much the same as doom3, except slightly better. the 16x AA is AMAZING if your card can handle it.
like others said, it's doom 3 meets quake 2. i played quake 2 for 6 years, a real veteran you might say, and this game is just a continuation. almost the same gameplay, but with slower rockets. q3 was the worst game ever IMO, i hated that game. this is much better than q3: it looks amazing and the multiplayer is the best action-packed game since q2. single player is pretty satisfying too... better than doom3.
- Cons: slow rockets, makes my wireless revert to 2mbps (i have no clue what this is about, perhaps my dual core processor is bugging it)
- Other Thoughts: well worth the game just to look at the quality of artwork and design! if you have a high-end card, buy this game just to complement it! best looking graphics out right now, PERIOD!
Pretty nice!
- Pros: I just got mine today, thanks to Neweggs speedy service! =] First off let me say that the graphics are really nice. I also own Doom 3 and feel that they are both almost identical in quality, however, Doom 3's texture quality and lighting is a tiny tiny bit better. But thats not to say Quake 4 fell short. This game plays and looks great. Its much faster paced than Doom 3. Starts off really exciting and actually remains that way unlike Doom 3, which settles down into a more eerie, satanic vibe-(which can be good, depending on what youre looking for. Netplay is loud, fun and hyper active with sweeter graphics than Quake 3 arena. In the one player mode, you get to fight along side your men too! Making you feel less afraid crossing those super dark corners. Feels like a real war against demonic looking cybernaries.
- Cons: Some of the load times, can take a while, but that depends on your system. Also, it loads entire maps too so, theres your reason. So far, I havent hated on the game and I played for HOURS beating level after level.
- Other Thoughts: Great looking game. Scary at parts but fast loud action for the most of it. And at this price, this was a steal! My system specs for those curious: Intel Pentium 4 HT processor LGA775 3.4GHZ, 3GB of Kingston RAM, ATI AIW X800XT 256MB 16 Pixel pipelined AGP video card.
I play with the high settings on and not one hitch. Looks beautiful. =] Im gonna update to a 512MB PCIE video card soon!

pretty good
- Pros: Good visuals for the time.
- Cons: No online community whatsoever. Once you get bored with the campaign, don't expect much fun out of this game, there are all of 10 other people online at any time. Lots of servers, but they're all empty.
- Other Thoughts: Q3area has a much better online community, grab the Q1, Q2 Q3 pack for 20 bucks and you'll have much more fun online.

good game
- Pros: good graphics and game play. got it installed on my ubuntu box with the linux installer available on line. Ounce all needed files were copied over from the cds the game runs with sound and without the need for the disc to be in the drive.
- Cons: some seens run very slow and choppy. A little bit of a pain having to mount cd's 2-4 with root privilages.
