It's been ten years since the release of Fallout 2 and 227 years after the nuclear devastation that all but destroyed humanity and now Bethesda Games returns you to the post-apocalyptic remains of what used to be Washington DC, packed with detail and excitement as you explore 2277. You get multiple challenges with consequences or rewards based on your actions. Build your character through pivotal events of your childhood in Vault 101. Assign skill points to reflect your style of play and put yourself to the test as you venture out into the sunlight in the shattered remnants of Washington DC in search of your father – the first man to leave the Vault.

You'll have to balance finding food to regain health against your radiation level – putting the struggle for survival in very real terms. Character interaction can lead you to shortcuts or dead-ends. Side quests let you try to gain aid and allies than you can pick-up on a single play-through. Combat goes beyond simple with the Vault-Tech Assisted Targeting System (VATS) which lets you pause the action and spend points to target a specific part of your foe with dramatic results if you hit. Make sure that you take care of your weapons, as they'll wear out without maintenance. Your character can combine weapons into newer, more powerful ones – if you took that skill. You'll find touches of the same dark humor that set Fallout apart in the first place along with retro 1950's styles set against the ruins.

The Collector's Edition includes a behind-the-scenes DVD showing the development of the game, along with hard-cover book filled with concept and production artwork from Fallout 3. A Vault Boy bobblehead figurine is also included and everything comes packed in a metal Vault-Tec lunch box. Prepare for the future!

5 out of 5 eggsFallout 3 is one of the greatest games

Pros: Fallout 3: Collector's Edition is one of the greatest games on the Xbox 360 system. The company behind it is Bethesda, who is headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, i.e. the name. The game takes place in the DC region so the developers have a high degree of realization of how things look within DC and the surrounding area.

The game is amazing and with the game of the year edition you get an amazing amount of content, I would say at least 200 hours of gameplay. So if you like RPG's this game is for you. Fallout 3: Collector's Edition comes with some additional content. This includes:

•Vault-Tec Bobblehead
•The Art of Fallout 3 Book
•The Making of Fallout 3 DVD
•Vault-Tec Lunch Box

5 out of 5 eggsbetter than crack

Pros: Addicting. Sucked me in like a supermassive black hole. The quasi-sandbox nature and size of the game really are what dragged me in. After finishing the game with about 60 hours invested, i had only explored half the map. Interface was intuitive, turn-based combat done flawlessly, campaign storyline engaging. Truly a FPS masterpiece.

Cons: No multiplayer, but seeing that is anything but a legitimate complaint, I confess that I have none.

Other Thoughts: Be ready to invest some time! i'm in college, and this was a couple weekends down the drain. I could have spent those weekends... um... studying...

5 out of 5 eggsBest game I've played in awhile

Pros: I do not know where to begin!! This game is so much fun. I love the interaction with the characters and enviroment. The graphics are stunning. I literally have lost track of time while playing this game as it kept me that interested. BUY IT you will not be dissappointed.

Cons: It does crash sometimes however, the latest patch has seemed to pretty much stop that.

Other Thoughts: EVGA 780I
Q6600 (OC 3.0)
4 GIGS Mushkin DDR 800
8800 GT Alpha Dog
Windows XP

5 out of 5 eggsBest game of 2008! Hands down!

Pros: The CE Package -
-Really nice extras; the lunch box and bobblehead are fantastic add ins. I was expecting a small, cheap looking bobblehead but it's actually very nice and far from tiny.
-Watched the 'making of' DVD and found most of it entertaining and informative. Their offices are incredibly nice. =)

The Game -
-MASSIVE city to explore. 120+ hours I've played, and still lack 6 bobbleheads and about 60 places to discover.
-Replay-ability. So many ways to go with your character. Be a saint and help everyone, or be psychotic and kill everyone.
-Dozens of abilities and perks to chose from and upgrade
-Custom weapons.
-Visuals are very nice. The level of detail put into everything in the game is mind boggling!

Cons: The CE Package - Nothing really... A+ package that is definitely worth the $15-$20 increase over the normal game. I love the bobblehead! =) The Game - -Level cap! My biggest complaint! Capping at level 20 is unacceptable because it isn't at all proportional. After 15 of so hours I had hit the cap, but was only about 20% into the game! But I head this will be fixed in the upcoming expansion (Operation Anchorage), so I'm happy! =) -Crashes. I've found that if I have anything running in the background that is even somewhat resource hungry, my game crashes quite frequently. i.e. if my virus software starts a scan whilst I'm playing, my game crashes. Running is on a Q6600 @3.4GHz, and 4GBs of ram and a 300GB VelociRaptor. The game just doesn't like to share I guess. Quitting most background programs fixes this issue and the crashes are MUCH less frequent. -Can't enter EVERY building. ;P -10 hour or so main quest. Seriously... I started over and am ignoring the main quest and just exploring

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this game to anyone. I've never played Fallout 1 or 2, but still fell in love with 3 almost instantaniously! And if you've considering buying it, definitely give some thought to this CE! Unlike most CEs, the extras here are well worth the extra cash. I got mine locally, so I can't rave about NewEgg's outstanding service, but if I hadn't gotten this locally, NewEgg is the first place I'd go to online. =)

Remember, there is a LOT to do in this game! Ignore the main quest and just explore if you're looking for some real fun! =)

This game blows Oblivion out of the water! I always look forward to Bethesda's next game! =)

Pros: Excellent turn based or continuous play action

Cons: Needs some small bugs fixed with a patch - but that should come soon enough.

5 out of 5 eggsNostalgia

Pros: It's Fallout, you needn't say anything else.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It could use MORE swearing, and tangential statements during battle.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The copy protection is unobtrusive. There are no install limits like Mass Effect, Spore, Bioshock. No internet connection is required. The Vault-Boy bobblehead looks great on my desk at work next to my Obi-Wan Kenobi bobble. The production values of the game are quite high. The upgraded Gamebryro engine runs fantastic at 1920x1200 on my HD4850. The game detected Ultra-High settings for me, so it should run great for people with lesser video cards. The VATS system is pretty cool.

Cons: The lunch box is kinda small, but I don't plan on carrying lunch in it anyway. It came with a few small dents but nothing catastrophic. Some Fallout purists might not like the new FPS feel of the game.

Other Thoughts: The Securom installer didn't like that I had YASU running, but it didn't seem to mind Daemon Tools.
