3 out of 5 eggsIt's a boxed game, and delivers as promised.

Pros: The product arrived without issue, and quickly. Everything expected was in the box, and it was all in good condition.

Cons: I bought a game disc, so that I didn't have to download 20+ GB of information. I popped in the disc, jumped through the hoops necessary to install off of a disc, and the thing is done about 45 minutes later. I go to boot the game from Steam, and it says I've got to wait through the evening. It's downloading 20+ GB of data (which I'm later informed is the entire game).

Beyond that, the game released with little to no tutorials, and no support for the community. Within a week the community managed to put out numerous patches and fixes, which took Bethesda months to implement.

This game was hyped as absolutely amazing. What we got was an amazing 30ish hours of content, leading to a depressingly hollow ending. While it is generally technically better than all of the previous Bethesda led Fallout games (3 and New Vegas), it lost its soul on the way to mechanical competence.

Other Thoughts: Go buy Fallout: New Vegas. Be prepared to download mods, but they're readily available (with installers) on the largest fan site out there (Google "Nexus, mods" and you'll find it).

New Vegas isn't as pretty, it isn't as expansive, and it requires mods to give it some of what Fallout 4 does. At the same time, you get a conclusive and satisfying story, with the amazing DLC, for the same price as this shell of a game.

In about 6 months I'm expecting that this opinion will be invalidated. The content release schedule for Bethesda seems rather brisk, and the community will write mods for just about anything under the sun. Catch is, by that time you'll likely see a price reduction. I can't reasonable recommend buying this game now, assuming you already haven't. There just isn't enough yet to call this game a must have. It's great, but the flaws make it difficult to love.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RPG

Pros: Do anything you want, be anyone you want in this game. The fun of the game is to just go out and explore places that you see. You can follow the main quest or branch out to the side quests, or just wander aimlessly. Settlement building is addictive, and with current mods really make this process much better.

Cons: Some tasks can be repetitive, if you dont like games that make you get quests>go across map to find item/kill bad guy>return to quest giver then this game is probably not for you.

Other Thoughts: Current mods i use: Higher Settlement Budget, Alternate Settlements, Expanded Settlements, Craftable Ammo, Full Dialouge, darker nights and True Storms.

PC: core i5-4590, 8gb Hyper X Savage, R9 270 2gb
1080p Maxxed Settings with godrays on low = 58fps

4 out of 5 eggsWelcome Back to The Wasteland

Pros: It's Fallout 4, we've been waiting a long time, it finally arrived
Solid gameplay, only crash I've encountered was exiting the game.
Crafting feature adds quite a bit to gameplay mechanics
Pip boy app on IOS adds new dimensions to gameplay
I snagged a pip boy edition, with all of it's pip boy on the arm goodnees

Cons: I had to edit the fallout settings file to support my 2560x1280 monitor. While I'm sure there were engineering reasons for the pitiful number of native supported resolutions, this sort of thing is not really excusable. Only advanced users would have a clue on how to accomplish this, and even then I had to check the web for possible solutions to this issue. Loss of karma=1 egg. Does seem to work well at this display size on my i7/32gb win764 rig with a EVGA3gb 660 ftw video card.
VERY LARGE download from steam needed to play. I knew this going in and with luck my web connection was giving me 9mb/sec, no no Karma loss there. Sorry for the folks on low speed connections. It will be a painful wait

Other Thoughts: So after a half dozen hours of gameplay I've realized I need to change my strategy a bit, being a max level heavily weaponized player in fallout 3 and new vegas has given me a reckless style leading to long reload times after death. I'm going to buy a new ssd shortly to put this game on to help a bit.

Typical fallout gameplay, the dialog choice style seems x boxy, docs were minimal, may have misplaced the manual during my excitement to get back to the vault.

Power armor requires what seems to be be a hard to find energy source so don't explore with it, leave it at a fast travel point and fetch as needed when you have an energy source in hand.

I'll be back with another review after 50 hours of gameplay. I just cleared 5 hours.

Luckily for me a clipping bug trapped the deathclaw I needed to kill.

I am avoiding all spoilers to really enjoy exploring the latest fallout world.

I did buy the pipboy edition elsewhere, it was my only option

Oh yeah, outstanding graphics, likely better with a really potent video card

2 out of 5 eggsWhat they didn't tell you

Pros: - Great game, familiar since it's the same as Fallout 3 except it's in the Boston area. Not that it is exactly like the Boston area (which is where I live) since by their compressed scale you are about 100 times bigger compared to the real world but still cool nonetheless.
- A few crashes but common for today's games, nothing corruptive or lasting.
- Love the fact when you or your system alt-tab away, when you come back its as if you hit ESC (you are paused).
- Takes a good 10-15 seconds to load on an 8350 8-core, 32 GB memory system from a WD Black HDD but that's to be expected with these graphics.
- Dual screen works with a Radeon 7950 but there is some visual distortion so I stay with one screen.

Cons: - Bethesda in their insidious wisdom has required Steam, the world's most evil DRM tracking tool, to be used to run this game. There is nothing in Newegg's webpage that mention's this. 3 eggs off for these things. Nevertheless Steam has been removed from the equation via Windows firewall. Long live GOG.com!
- Game will take up a LOT of your time :] (not a con to me but others may think so)

Other Thoughts: - Constantly have to decide to play World of Warships or Fallout 4, such a dilemma every time...

5 out of 5 eggsThe best fallout yet

Pros: This game allows you to use your imagination to outfit everything from armor to homesteads. Total freedom to wonder the area. Great storyline and graphics and after 130 hours of play not one crash and for a game this large that is really saying something for the developers. The AI is as good as I have seen in any game and their language is as colorful as in earlier games a big well done. If you are considering this game don't hesitate buying you will not be disappointed no matter what type of gamer your are.

Cons: Only con is I preordered and got it day one but the download took another 10 hours to complete so I lost a day of play and I was so looking forward to playing right away.

Other Thoughts: There are so many variations to this game I will be playing for years as I still play fallout 3 and Vegas with 3 being my favorite up until now this will be my #1 for a long time to come.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat game but one issue...

Pros: Great game. Looks very nice and plays well too. Lots of different paths you can choose (via leveling system) to make the game re-playable.

Cons: Had problems with my graphics drivers that were rather annoying. Made it so i couldn't start up the game. You'd think a reputable company like Bethesda would have made sure that everything was 100% ready from the start. To make it worse, at the time i was dealing with the problem there wasn't really one for sure fix. Instead there were several fixes that COULD help.

Other Thoughts: Really great game just make sure to keep everything updated or it might just not work.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: One of the few new games that recently got released with no performance issues. Graphics... look awesome..gameplay is very good with a multitude of different routes you can take in the game that lead to a different experience.IT COMES WITH A POSTER WOOHOOO!

Cons: At the moment none.

Other Thoughts: Bethesda appears to be setting a standard when releasing a game that works on day one. Dice, rocksteady...take note.
