Oblivion is huge
- Pros: The free egg saver shipping only took 3 business days and so I wouldn't recommend paying an extra for the 3 day shipping(I live in NY and they shipped it from California) The game is HUGE! (but there are drawbacks). The game is also very fun to play and there's nothing like smacking the heck out of a goblin with a huge two handed mace. Very fun game because you can customize your own character the way you want him/her to be. Also since this is a special edition game you get a free coin and a "pocket guide" to the world of Oblivion and you also get a dvd full of bonus materials. So if you're in to collecting swag then I would recommend this version of the game. However if you just want to play the game and do not want the extras save yourself a few dollars and get the regular version.
- Cons: Because the game is huge it takes forever to get anywhere (I've only been playing for a few hours but even with a horse your character moves very slow)
- Other Thoughts: Overall I would recommend this game , however it does take a long time to get to where you need to go (maybe there's faster travel later in the game?)
Why include it?
- Pros: Great graphics
- Cons: Disappointed that they felt it nessesary to include adult content.
- Pros: Was a benchmark for video quality when it came out.
Incredibly module. Just look for tesnexus on google. Expansive. Lots of side jobs to do. The main story can be completed in about 7 hours but there's a plethora of things to do afterwards. Fun.
- Cons: The leveling system is absolutely horrid and ruins gameplay and immersion. If you're about level 20, expect to be fighting The Flash because everyone runs 100MPH. The good thing is that you can always just get a mod to rework this system like OOB.
Had some stability problems and tons and tons of bugs when it came out. Patches have fixed about everything.
- Other Thoughts: Don't cheat, even once. It ruins the experience.

Oblivion is a single-player game that takes place in Tamriel's capital province, Cyrodiil. You are given the task of finding the hidden heir to a throne that sits empty, the previous emperor having been killed by an unknown assassin. With no true Emperor, the gates to Oblivion (the equivalent of hell in the world of Tamriel) open, and demons begin to invade Cyrodiil and attack its people and towns. It's up to you to find the lost heir to the throne and unravel the sinister plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel. In keeping with the Elder Scrolls tradition, players will have the option to experience the main quest at their own pace, and there will be plenty of opportunities to explore the vast world and make your own way. Numerous factions can be joined, such as the thieves or mages guilds, and each contains its own complete storyline and the chance to rise to the head of the faction and reap further rewards. |
Introduction
Arguably one of the greatest role-playing games thus far, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion raised the bar for future RPGs. The kindly Emperor of Tamriel, Uriel Septim, has been assassinated. It's up to you to uncover the dark secrets behind his death, and to seek the long-lost heir to the throne. Meanwhile, portals to hell –called Oblivion gates- have been opening up all over the place, unleashing unholy demons. The fate of Tamriel rests on you and Septim's unknown heir.
Like past Elder Scrolls games, Oblivion offers open-ended gameplay. Players can put off the main quest and complete dozens of side quests. Take your time; help out the local townsfolk. Players can also join up to five guilds and factions, each of which offers a number of quests. Explore the countryside and marvel at the breathtaking scenery. Those with powerful gaming rigs will especially benefit from Oblivion's stunning visuals.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Collector's Edition comes with a Pocket Guide to the Empire booklet and a bonus DVD, which includes a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the game. This Collector's Edition is a must-have for any Elder Scrolls fan.
