1 out of 5 eggsMislabeled: actually a frustrating adventure in 21st century computer troubleshooting

Pros: None

Cons: Wasted hours trying to install. I am very comfortable with windows, but there is no legal path forward to make this game playable on Windows 7. This product was not cheap when figuring in five frustrating wasted hours of my life. I am sending it back.

Other Thoughts: I've not bought a physical game in years. I now remember why.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Nice graphics, good stories.

Cons: Firefights are pathetic. Fistfights are little better.

Other Thoughts: Driving around the city as in GTA is great, but that gets a little tiresome after a while. Mucking about the crime scenes gathering clues is ponderous and not too much fun.

My favorite games are FarCry (orig.) and the Half Life series so YMMV.

1 out of 5 eggsWill not work

Pros: None

Cons: Will not start Social Club in order to activate the game. The game loads from the disks but you cannot play. When you go to launch the game it just gives you an error:d3dx9_43.dll
I contacted customer service at Rockstar and have not received a response. I want my money back but I know I won't get it because it is opened software... I work in retail and know how that goes. I am very disatisfied with this purchase. Not upset with Newegg but with Rockstar.
I would not recomend this game to anyone on Windows 7. I have no idea if it would work with another OS or not. It is a complete waste of money.

Other Thoughts: Newegg should take this game off of their site. It does not work.

4 out of 5 eggsUpdate for LA Noire

Pros: Fun game if you can get it to run. Looks great in DX11. The action is a little slower, more thinking than shooting.

Cons: Took a long time to get it to run. The driving parts can be a little tricky (for me anyway, 60 plus yrs old) but you can always let your partner drive.

Other Thoughts: I followed all the fixes recommended by Rockstar and still had problems. It only started working after I had hi-speed internet installed. Would not run with dial up(I know but it was all I could afford) and I did not have to use any illegal cracks. Overall a very fun game for me, I am older and maybe that is why I enjoy it, the action is not as fast as as most of the other games out there.

1 out of 5 eggsdoes not work with windows 7 - dont waste your money

Pros: never played because the game always crashes in windows 7

Cons: It appears that everyone with windows 7 has problems trying to get this game to work, the other reviews below are lying if they say it runs smoothly.
The Social Club is basically a trojan virus that violates your privacy, check the Rockstar Game website, they basically brag about how they will track you online after installing Social Club software which is required for all PC versions of Rockstar Games.
The only people that have been able to get this game to work with Windows 7 have used an illegal crack to 'fix' the problem.

Other Thoughts: I only bought this because it was on sale for $10 but it is a complete waste of money.
Stick to the console versions of Rockstar Game and stay far away from all PC versions of any games from Rockstar Games, complete ripoff!!!

3 out of 5 eggsGreat game...too many bugs

Pros: Incredible graphics (for the the people) and great dialog and voice acting.
It's like watching/playing an old detective tv show.

Cons: Buggy,buggy,buggy!

Game saves happen at fixed points and overwrite previous saves.

Other Thoughts: I really enjoy this game. it's got a nice mix of elements: questioning a suspect, chasing a bad guy -- by foot or by car, shoot outs, fist fights, clues and deductions)

The main problem is that the game is SUPER buggy. It has crashed multiple times while playing. This coupled with the inability to save when/where I want makes it frustrating as I have to replay parts of the game, over and over (it once crashed so bad it corrupted the save file and I couldn't even go back to the last save spot, I had to start ALL over!)

I'd give the game a five but it looses two eggs for the combo of crashing and poor saving. But for <$15 it's worth 3 eggs.

1 out of 5 eggsCaution, Buyer Beware!

Pros: The price maybe? I really can't say because I have not been able to play it.

Cons: Crashes to desktop every time I click play on the main menu. I've tried all the fixes I could find on the web and cannot get it to play. Updated drivers, turned off anti virus and still it won't play. It seams to be a common problem with this and some of the other Rockstar games.

Other Thoughts: It looks like a fun game and I would really like to play it. So do your homework and a simple search on the web before buying. Good Luck

5 out of 5 eggsGood balance of gameplay

Pros: I received this game as a gift. I wouldn't normally go for this genre, but I found it to be unexpectedly good. This game fills a niche that doesn't have many options. It bridges the gap between a fast paced, constant action shooter style game and a sit down and think puzzle based game. Both aspects are integral to gameplay and they mesh together in a manner very appropriate to the story line. Special mention must go to the interrogations of this game. You not only investigate what they say but how they say it. Character movement is complex enough for subtle body language and facial expressions to become a factor in your investigation.

Cons: I have no major cons but a few things should be said. To enjoy this game you must enjoy both fast paced shooter action and calmly thinking out puzzles in the form of finding clues and interrogating witnesses. You can't focus on one and blow off the other. The other I find more amusing than a con, when operating a vehicle apparently Rockstar cant help but be Rockstar. Every time your hard nosed public protector detective gets in a vehicle, he becomes an absolute menace to society ala GTA. It's very difficult and tedious to drive normally and the car is a wreck by the time you get where you're going. This doesn't matter though because by the time you are done with the location your car is magically repaired, even though all you did was park it outside of a suspect's house while you interrogated them. Ah, Rockstar... Doesn't fit the character or storyline but at least it's more like an amusing running joke.

Other Thoughts: If you like both fast paced shooters and puzzle style games and appreciate combining the two, give this one a try even if film noir isn't your thing.

5 out of 5 eggsL.A. Noire PC

Pros: Very cool game, which can be both an intense and relaxing game. The open world is fun to explore but the heart of the game is the detective work, facial animations, and cinematography, and cut scenes. Finally out for PC with hi-res graphics and textures. A definite must-have for mid to high end PCs.

Cons: For some, the pace may not be up to expectations. LA Noire is not extreme action, it's more like a novel with some action and detective work. On the technical side I have noticed stuttering in the frame rates which feels more like a game issue rather than a performance issue. This could probably be ironed out with a patch or two. Some quests may be repetitive.

Other Thoughts: Great game. I love it. I look forward to finishing it. Good job Rockstar. Plays smoothly, everything high, on a [Ci7 930, 6GB DDR3 1600, GTX580, Win7 64bit, 1920x1080].
