Far Cry 3

Pros: none

Cons: can not change username. ubisoft or their computer or a glitch posted my address as my username and refuses to change it. i know its not me because i have already found thousands of people this has happened to them. i even called ubisoft and the operator i got told me ......"too bad". sorry... there is nothing i can do for you... is there anything else i can do for you? he even told me that if i score high on leader board then everyone sees my address.

Other Thoughts: there are lots of posts on forums where people have explained that ubisofts computer glitch did this to thousands of people and they "can't" do anything about it.

i just though you all should know before you make a purchase.

Pros: The detection meter is great, unlike what people are saying you can carry plenty of ammo, you just have to craft pouches. graphics and game play are awesome. all the bad reviews are probably from some kids who don't know how to set up their pc right. having to be connected to the internet is no reason to rate the game one star, nor having to have "u-play" Ubisoft simply wants to get their version of steam known and having it through this game is no reason to hate on the game. The game is well worth the money.

Cons: weapons can prevent view around corners, the unnecessary shaking sniper rifles when moving bolt/reloading. baddies seem to notice you when they are more likely not to and don't see you when they should. but all of these are minor issues

Pros: Huge, fun to explore world, great graphics, tons of extras to do outside the main storyline, well worth the price. Driving and shooting feel great, enough weapons and upgrades. I love sliding down mountain sides, hunting animals, the challenge of exploring unclaimed areas undetected, driving off road, exploring caves, hand gliding etc etc… A real technical masterpiece. Lots of work put into the main story missions, not just “go shoot this guy” mission done. It is the best of Far Cry 1 & 2 combined. Love that there is a reward for taking the tactical non Rambo approach, this game is challenging and that makes it more fun. Once I got the signature weapons I turned the difficulty up to “warrior,” perfect . Far Cry is still one of the best games out there.

Cons: Proximity to mission has rather small area, if you leave the area the mission fails. Sometimes I want to approach an attack from another angle but cant since I would leave the “mission area” this restricts the open world benefits. Far Cry 2 had more variety in the landscape. Would like to go prone since the game rewards being undetected. Weapon can block your view when standing close to a wall. Would like more save slot options.

Other Thoughts: A great adventure, ok story, if you want a great story go read a book!

Pros: I really don't have any Pros for this game sorry to say I feel for the lies that were put out on this game.

Cons: everything is wrong the AI the way you have to get ammo can only carry so much the enemy are everywhere and dogs on top of it and no ammo to fight with worst game I have ever played Period.

Other Thoughts: This by far the worst game I have ever played next to far cry 2 what a waste of money and my time and you can only play on one PC even with steam the whole game is just a joke to all games out there this is 2013 they still don't have it together.

Pros: you'll never overdose on this game because the client and/or server will keep crashing on you, and you'll then find something better to do like write this review

Cons: This thing crashes like it's the 90s and I play on the lowest quality with an i7-3770. Newegg gave me this game free with an XFX FX-775A-ZNP4 Radeon HD 7750, which I think is great. I feel like I spent my life troubleshooting conflicts and I'm kind of done, so if this is related to my video card, then maybe it's time I get a console.

Other Thoughts: I skipped the single player mode and went straight to multiplayer. I would give this 5 stars if
1) the game didn't crash
2) the servers didn't migrate and/or drop me all the time

Pros: * Great graphics -- not Crysis 2 / 3 great, but still very very good.
* <Spoiler> - There is live, not just implied, s-e-x in the game, and I think it adds a lot to the adult / emotional element the story tries to build for the player (especially when it's with a hot girl, hah).
* Weapon selections and attachments are broad which is very good.
* They did a nice job constructing the island and environment you play in.
* Vehicle explosions and explosions in general are as good in this game as I've ever seen in any game.

Cons: * The ending. It is awful. I don't know what it is with Ubisoft lately in their games, but between this game, and Assassin's Creed III, they really need to hire some better storywriters.
* Crafting. Crafting was about as stupid of an implementation as they could have put into the game. It's tedious. It's annoying. It's not fun at all. It should be like the first Far Cry (still the best of the 3 BY FAR, IMO) and most FPS games where you simply find things and upgrade your inventory by finding them. You should not be out there having to skin animals just to create basic things -- Jason Brody would not be doing that. He would not be wasting time doing that given the situation he is in.
* The main character (Jason Brody) just isn't very smart. Throughout the main story he will blindly run into situations where anyone with any semblance of common sense would urge caution and these acts of idiocy generally lead him into nearly getting killed by his main opponent throughout the game, Vasz.
* <Spoiler> The way you kill Vasz in the story is just IDIOTIC. You are essentially in a dream sequence. Again, unrealistic and would not happen.
* Overall the story is just not very believable. One of the main character's brothers (who is killed early in the game), is an ex-military guy and is the far more likely guy to be the hero of the game and that would've made far more sense. This untrained kid would not be able to become a weapons & survival expert like a Navy SEAL in the amount of time the game implies. It just would not happen, and that's the biggest part of building a good story in a video game -- it has to be believable. The player needs to believe he / she really is the main character and that the things they are doing are truly believable.

Other Thoughts: * Overall, I find it hard to recommend the game. Due to negative things like crafting, story, limited inventory and weapons early in the game, I found the game very hard to enjoy until I was about 80% of my way through the game. Now I will probably enjoy the game a lot more if I play through it again since I know how everything works, what the best weapons are, where everything is, etc. but the initial play-through was just PAINFUL. It took me LITERALLY 3 months to beat the game because I had zero desire to play it. I would have to force myself to play it in 20-30 minute increments just because it was so not fun at all, but I wanted to at least complete it since someone bought it for me for xmas.
* Bottom line, Ubisoft needs to take some lessons from Crytek with Crysis 1, 2, and 3 as far as how to make a first person shooter. They keep trying to make their FPS games with a mix of 3rd person, MMO, and role-playing games and it just fails badly. This game was an upgrade from the absolute epic fail that was Far Cry 2, but I can only give this game one more egg than I gave for Far Cry 2. Far Cry 1 (which was created with help from Crytek) is still BY FAR the best game of the series and it is almost 10 years old.

Performance -- game performed great on my rig, and overall from the reading I've done, it they did a very good job optimizing performance for a wide range of gaming rig specifications.

Pros: Beautiful Game in all respects with the exception of the cons. A gorgeous place full of beauty. The action is excellent and the depictions have a nice touch of reality with some minor exceptions. The single player version has a nice, adult story line with plenty of action and weapons to enhance it.
Vehicles, weapons, aggressive wildlife, pirates, mercenaries, beautiful people (with bad intentions), what more could a gamer ask for?

Cons: I absolutely HATE the fact that I must be logged onto the internet and have the idiotic Ubi u-Play running in order to play the single player version of the game. I don't do online or multiplayer if I can at all avoid it. I want to sit at my computer and disconnect from the net and play my games in beautiful solitude, a beautiful escape from dreary reality for me. But I can't have that with this game.
This is why it only gets one star from me.

Other Thoughts: If I could play this game offline it would earn a well deserved 5 stars from me.

Pros: When it works it's not a bad game.
The only game that I own that has crashed my computer &
Crash it does.

Cons: The game Crashes nearly everytime I play.
There are Audio crashes.
There are Video crashes.
There are poor programming practice crashes.
It causes catastrophic system failures where windows7 steps in to protect my hardware from damage from this game.

Other Thoughts: My opinion at this point? Don't waste your money on it.

Pros: Voice acting from the start is just phenomenal and completely sucks you into the story. Scenery and gameplay are just gorgeous, even the animal behavior just blows me away. Tons of side missions and things to do as far as crafting and hunting. It ascends beyond a game and into an experience.

Cons: One of my buddies was arguing how it gets a little too far-fetched later on in the game. Magical talismans and what not. Okay I can understand that on a realism side of things, but it is a piece of fiction. There is only so far realistically they can go before you're main events are too similar to each other.

Other Thoughts: It's a phenomenal game and that's that. Those of you browsing reviews because FarCry2 is making you wary of grabbing this, no need to fear, it's nothing like it. They learned from their mistakes. FarCry3 is one of my top 3 recommended games. You need this and you're gonna thank yourself afterwards.

Pros: Game play is good but repetitive. Graphics are very good. Story line is reasonably compelling (for the genre). Overall a 4 star game. See below for 1 star explanation.

Cons: I should have bought the game here. Instead I chose to download it direct from Ubisoft--a definite tactical error on my part.

The initial download was cludgy and not without glitches.

After a recent system crash that required a fresh OS install and reinstall of all software, I tried to reinstall this game. The "Download Manager" cannot manage to download the game files without one or two getting corrupted in the process. The upshot is that the game can't be reinstalled.

Other Thoughts: Ubisoft is losing a repeat customer because it failed to fulfill the most basic rule of the market: If I buy something, I expect to receive it.....
