1 out of 5 eggsUplay

Pros: Could be great game, can't yet play it.

Cons: Uplay has control of my game

Other Thoughts: Had previous review that stated I can't play the game. After much uninstalling/reinstalling finally found needed to install Uplay from their site. Wow! Finally got a screen to activate Far Cry! Except still can't play because it needs to be updated, and the update download stops no matter where I get it from. Again, I just wanted to buy Far Cry 3, install it, and play! Why do I have to go thru this Uplay garbage to play a game I have paid for? Three hours now, and maybe one day I will actually be able to play. I don't have high hopes.

1 out of 5 eggsWhoa...

Pros: Great Graphics, looked to be a Real Winner!

Cons: Bought 2 copies, mine and the wife's...

Oh Hecky Durn - My Wife gets into the 'Skill Building' phase of the game... and can't exit this process without wiping out a fair amount of previous efforts... <ALT>+<F4> was the only way to exit the screen!

Seriously? Ubisoft? It's a pretty obvious *bug* ... Not what I was expecting after Far Cry and Far Cry 2.

UPlay interface isn't that helpful either.

Rather disappointed in this game.

Other Thoughts: Off to the Ubisoft home page to see what's up with this really odd behavior.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat game!

Pros: Great Graphics, Excellent adult story, Cool progression of abilities, Just an awesome game.

Cons: Uplay, Crafting/Hunting can be tedious, but I suppose that is a matter of taste.

Other Thoughts: I can't figure out the complaints some of these people have with this game. This is one of the best shooters I have played. The open world allows you to push the story or do your own thing with a lot of side quests to pursue as well. The story and characters are great and well voiced. Weapons are varied and accurate and stealth kills are just awesome.

Uplay is kind of a drag, but I had no problems as far as it interrupting my game or glitching things up. The crafting/hunting mechanism can be tedious and cause you some hassle but my next paragraph will explain how to remedy that. Graphical glitches like clipping and pop up are rare if you have the juice to run it, but that should go without saying (notice "SHOULD" but since that was a few of the complaints I saw, I thought it should be addressed).

I lucked out in the way I chose to play this game and did not realize it until my second play through. The best way to play is to do all your hunting/crafting first while unlocking towers in the process. This will open up a lot of the game and get you the best equipment before tackling the main missions. Try to avoid run and gunning the encampments as taking them out quietly yields more experience and is a lot more satisfying anyway. There are plenty of run and gun moments in the game anyway, so enjoy those stealthy sections and get the most out of them. On my second play through, I avoided the camps entirely until I unlocked a lot of the stealth kill perks (and the silenced sniper rifle to take out guy on the towers or occasional stragglers). Another thing I did not really use until my second play though is the multi stealth kills, but is definitely worth using and getting good at. Nothing beats sneaking up behind a bad guy at a camp fire, stabbing him from behind, then quickly stabbing his buddy sitting next to him and finally throwing the knife across the camp to kill the last guy at the edge of the base. Adrenaline rush, silent and PRICELESS!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Game

Pros: Amazing Graphics, even on Med-High Settings. Has lots of scenic jumps, it is breathtaking standing on a tower and looking down. Plenty of wildlife to hunt.

Cons: Tower game mechanic might get old, but oh well. Sometimes enemy AI will drive by me standing almost in front of them, but this is funnier than annoying.

Other Thoughts: Runs great on my 1st gaming PC, 7870 handles it well.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Great Game

Pros: Very great story and gameplay plenty of funny and fun things to do.

Cons: Not much to do after you capture the whole island

Other Thoughts: Isn't a system crippler. I played this on my laptop with High settings and it was a 560M 2GB. It played like a charm. Optimized well.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Game at Great Price

Pros: The day I bought this game in July it was less than eighteen dollars. For that money this game has given me dozens of hours of good gameplay and I'm not even half done with the yet.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Far Cry 3 is not a system crippler. I have an old i7 920 and a 7870 and I'm doing just fine @ 1920x1200 with everything maxxed except AA

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Game!

Pros: AWESOME GAME! I was a bit skeptical as some games aren't worth buying and with the price of them today, no one wants to buy a "bad" game.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsWelcome to the jungle

Pros: Not a single glitch on my overclocked i5. windows 7 EVGA 550ti
Waited for the right price after farcry2. Got it!
Just enough cartoon factor
Satisfying game play
Great Graphics

Cons: It's not a game for everybody based on the other reviews

Ai faults made gameplay a bit too easy. I've been around FPS for a real long time and it's either they smell you coming a mile away or you can kill without a sneeze.

Save limitations reduce replay vale. This was a big one for me early on. Sometimes dying was a major setback. O prefer the fallout save system where you can save, try a new technique for a kill and try again quickly if things go wrong ( and in FC3, there are plenty of twists and turns)

Other Thoughts: I've played all three FC games, enjoyable distractions if not somewhat frustrating at times. I had zero problems with Ubi play. With the very wide variety of copy protections systems on market, I prefer a live internet connection to something that plays havoc with my file systems.

The voice acting was good even with the stereotypical mercenary types., I felt the role of Jason while playing. Too bad they didn't include a full sheet of temp tattoos that could be applied during gameplay.

While I finished the main section of gameplay with only about half the map explored the developers could have forced the unlocking of far more parts of the map before allowing the final chapters to play out. so don't be in a rush to follow the main storyline. Plenty to do.

The taking of artistic license from some of the Indiana jones movies was a bit of a cheap out on one hand, but fun to play on the other. It was a bit predictable in that regard.

At the heavily discounted price I paid ( a bit less then the currently discounted price) It made for a good summer distraction
