4 out of 5 eggsFun

Pros: I found this game to be a lot of fun. Way back in the day I played "Total Annihilation" and then a few years after that "Total Annihilation: Kingdoms." This game DOES still keep to the tradition of the early game but with slightly better graphics and new units.

Cons: There are some extremely good players online and its actually a bit challenging to find intermediate players to go against sometimes.

Won't run on a very low end dual core (used to be highest of high end) Opteron 185 (original Athlon 90nm tech) very well. It likes multi-core processors.

Other Thoughts: It is fast action and you have to know the build orders and strategies.

2 out of 5 eggsNot like 1

Pros: Entertaining for a little while.

Cons: Nothing like supcom1. Single player story is too short.

Any improvements to units and AI are immediately muted by the changes in gameplay.

If you think this is a followup to supcom, prepare to be sorely disappointed. Tears could happen.

Other Thoughts: The price drops to 2.99 with free shipping. It's basically worth it then. I'd not pay any more at all for it.

1 out of 5 eggsNegative one

Pros: I learned a very good lesson. Never EVER pre order a game, no matter how much you love others in the series.

Cons: Horrible compared to the original. Changed up what was strong to be more mainstream and didn't get anything right.

5 out of 5 eggsAddicting - strategizing during CHURCH!

Pros: Addicting gameplay
Deep strategy options
FUN!!

Cons: Addicting gameplay

Other Thoughts: This game was so addicting for me (I was thinking about it in church even) I had to uninstall it!! What a bummer too, because it has such deep strategy and gameplay options and hugely varied enviornments. You can play as any of 3 factions, each of which have quite different play style, units, and buildings to choose from.

Ignore the impossible-to-please people grumbling about it not living up to its legacy blah blah blah - it stands on its own, and does so well.

Favorite: A building that acts as a magnet, pulling enemies into it and grinding them up for resources!! Woohoo!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Strategy, mod replay

Pros: Good thorough strategy game, open sandbox for different strategies.

Cons: Moderate size takes less than 40 hours to burn through single player. Would have liked to have had a couple add-on mission sets or upgrades.

Other Thoughts: At under $10 on sale its definitely worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth a happy meal.

Pros: Awesome game.

Cons: Does not come with expansion? heh Im grasping here.

Other Thoughts: It activates on Steam, so the expansion is easily grabbed from there.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat game - just not as good as the first... except for the eye candy

Pros: Great graphics- game of the year for RTS 2010. It's fun - fairly easy to understand and re-playable... if you understand the RTS games of collecting resources, upgrading tech, and fighting against opponents - both AI and human - its great... but.. (see cons)

Cons: it doesn't come close, except for the graphics and my personal preference of a tech tree) to Supreme Commander I. Heres the rub. Supreme Commander 1 still requires more CPU horsepower for all opponents to be AI in a game than any single CPU - even overclocked - has today. It also has much more complicated AI - making it that much more demanding. Graphics wise - not close to SC2, story wise - much better - but who plays for the story after the first 2 days?

Re-playability of SC I (not II as is for this review) is outstanding - there still are mods being made and SCI was a 2007 game. Unfortunately - way ahead of its time. SCII fills that gap - allows game play on today's even modest computers - where as SCI would kill them. SCII is the game that is great to play with friends and they dont need to have $3000 computers w/ Xeon processors. Other cons of SCII - the ACU - main guy - is way too weak, experimentals in DLC too strong. But this game is still worth $20. $5.99 is a stea

Other Thoughts: You would be well advised to buy both SCI and SCII with both addon packs. They both bring their own flavors to the universe and are both fun to play. For the very very strong RTS player who is deep into their geek - SC1 is definitely for them - but they better be able to afford the top of the line CPUs if they want to play even 4-5 out of AI's from the computer and limit the number of units to about 750 ratherr than the 1000. SC2 on the other hand - is fun out of the box and for the price again is a steal. You really should get the addon pack Infinite war - Newegg should sell it but I dont see it anywhere... bad bad newegg. However, you have a Steam account code inside Newegg's package which you should install from there because there are gamers waiting for you to play - and you can download Infinite war there on steam for about $10. Again a steal. See you there. :)

4 out of 5 eggsokay game

Pros: Has a decent multiplayer community with knowledgeable people. Like any RTS game, expect to put in some serious time to get really good at it. It's not like shooter games, where reflexes or natural intuition will save you.

Cons: It takes a while for lobbies to start, and expect to lose several of your games upfront if you just started playing (I did, at least...).

Other Thoughts: It's an okay game. I've seen a lot of debate on the dev's game forums on whether or not this is a "true" followup to Supreme Commander 1, but as I have not played that, I cannot say myself.
