Pros: Does a reasonable, but not stellar job of creating PDF documents.
Cons: Nuance PDF Converter Professional 6 forces activation of the product. This is OK if it works. It doesn't! The license provides only three forced activations. Uninstalling de-activates and preserves the allotted three activations. It's extremely difficult to uninstall the program on a crashed, no longer bootable system! There went one activation. Installation on the new system was activation two. Motherboard BIOS and chipset updates triggered another forced activation--the third. Installation of a second hard disk drive weeks later triggered yet another forced activation--oops, you've used your three allotted activations. You're done.
Other Thoughts: Check the reviews on a variety of websites. The biggest complaint is the activation process.

Pros: Cheap
Cons: Bunged up many of my other programs including Acrobat. Trying to uninstall was a nightmare. Required manual deletion of many reg keys and after several months I'm still finding bits of software that don't work traced back to this horrible software. If it wasn't for JV Powertools I'd have had to wipe and reload windows to regain control.

Rating: 1/5license problems
Pros: The product is AOK
Cons: I have used level 4 for several years and ran into trouble with the license key in 2007. I'd installed on too many computers. I uninstalled on the secondary computers and customer service issued me a new license code. From what has been said here and in other forums as well, it looks like the licensing problem has gotten much worse. Have the accountants taken over at Nuance and reigned in the programmers?

Rating: 1/5the license key mess
Pros: I've had level 4 for some years and had a license key problem which customer support straightened out 3 years ago.
Cons: But apparently, from what I am seeing here and at the Amaz. forum, the problem has gotten worse for Nuance products. It looks like the accountants have taken over and the programmers have been vanquished!

Rating: 4/5Great Product for Simple PDF Work
Pros: This Nuance PDF Converter Pro makes editing, formating and converting to other formats a breeze. If you're doing basic work with PDFs save yourself a couple hundred dollars and skip Adobe.
Cons: Adding higher functionality like command buttons for emailing forms was not fully compatible for all PDF standards
Other Thoughts: Overall this is a great product if you need to re-arrange a PDF file or convert to other formats

Rating: 1/5Poor Customer Support
Pros: PDF support good
Cons: Horrible customer support!
Other Thoughts: I used to use Nuance PaperPort Pro and liked their PDF support and document organization. The problem is their customer support--I had a download of their program and would have to constantly call and email them to get a new software install key because I often reinstalled WinXP (thankfully Win7 has been running better). The last time, I requested help they didn't get back to me and I have just moved on from their program. I won't buy from them again.

Rating: 3/5Don't Waste $50 on This
Pros: - Does the job... most of the time
Cons: - Expensive - Has bugs: printing from Thunderbird; printing selected region rather than pages
Other Thoughts: I have licenses for this by virtue of buying and upgrading Scansoft/Nuance's OmniPage OCR software, so it's hard for me to gauge how much I paid for it, if anything. The Nuance telemarketers have certainly tried repeatedly to get me to upgrade both products. Why spend even $50 to buy this when no-cost alternatives exist? Do some research. You will find doPDF and likely some others. doPDF lacks some of the configuration bells and whistles of the Nuance product, but otherwise the output is indistinguishable to me.

Rating: 5/5Blow Adobe Acrobat Away!
Pros: A Fraction of the cost of Adobe Acrobat Pro Much easier to navigate menus and icon bars Advanced features easier to use Page view/move feature is extremely helpful
Cons: Only support requires payment. A few bugs.
Other Thoughts: This program beats out Adobe Acrobat by miles. I tested the automatic form creation tools in both, and this beat out Acrobat finding more fields properly. The program does have a few bugs, but nothing that can't be worked around. Too bad to get real tech support, you have to pay for it. Their PaperPort product has a good on-line community, but not much for this one, yet. We were able to setup 60 workstations with this at 1/10th the cost of Adobe Acrobat, so that's worth a lot. We looked at Paper Port, but this is a much more robust program of one single part of PaperPort (The "PDF Editor" part of PaperPort) Oh, and it comes with a fantastic PDF file that has instructions on how to use the entire program. You get to it from the help menu. So the reviewer who stated bad documentation was incorrect.
