NUANCE PDF Create 8.0

Pros: It was free with rebate - eventually. I still uninstalled it.

Cons: Won't combine pdfs, no multi-page scan, rebate took *FOREVER*

Other Thoughts: nothing thats not built into Chrome or Office already. I don't get the point of the software

Pros: test it out.. read the help files.. use it a bit.. it works great! creates multiple document PDF files and singles. I use this for work every day

Cons: none so far

Cons: Not that great of a product. Other more honest companies will provide the same results without tricking customers into a rebate they wont honor.

Other Thoughts: Not spending a single penny on a Nuance product ever again.

Pros: Creates Pdf files but there are free alternatives .

Cons: Won't honor rebate request. I purchased two copies, sent all required materials certified mail. Nuance replied that my claim is invalid because a claim has already been processed for my address even though I live in a single family detached home which I've owned since 1996. I wrote back to appeal but they won't reply.

Other Thoughts: Some disreputable vendors entice sales with big rebate offers then disallow the vast majority of claims for whatever reason they can concoct

Pros: Haven't really used it yet, but the older version, ScanSoft PDF Create 3, that I've used for years was super. I upgraded only because 3 won't run under Win 7.

Cons: None of the product information makes it clear this is one machine only license. It is spelled out on the registration screen after the install, but you have to read it close. Who does that?

Other Thoughts: Don't try to install on more than one computer. I did and apparently Nuance system partially disabled the copy on the first computer. I use a Ashampoo Uninstaller 5 program and it said there was an improper uninstall of 8. I had all sorts of problems, including blue screens, when I tried to reinstall after letting Uninstaller clean up the bad uninstall. Finally, I uninstalled it off the second computer and the install on the first went smooth.

Pros: This is an easy to use program for making PDFs using the Print function in any program. You can easily add security settings at the time of printing too. In addition it makes combining files into a single PDF a quick snap. The combined PDF can be made from PDFs, text files, images, etc so you have ability to combine several file types into one. This is very handy!

Cons: I do find it unfortunate that no document viewer is provided. In other words you can't open a PDF and view its content to make sure everything is okay. Obviously one can use Nuance's PDF reader, Adobe's PDF reader, or some other program but I still would find it useful if they had included a viewer. For example Adobe Acrobat has a built in PDF reader. If you require that function you must go with the Nuance PDF Converter series.

Other Thoughts: For quick and standard PDF creation PDF Create will and does work well. If you are looking for a full replacement for Adobe Acrobat go with Nuance's Converter series (especially the Professional series).
